Albany trainer Peter Western returns to Mount Barker tomorrow with his Ihtiram gelding Zipabout ($1.90 fav), following a recent raid that came up trumps.
Backing up from two recent wins at Mount Barker, Western elected to send Zipabout to Bunbury earlier this month to take on a solid BM60+ class field over 1208m – and what a move it proved to be.
Drawing worse than mid-barrier (7 of 10), regular hoop Jason Whiting had the 6yo near last on the turn, before releasing the handbrake – Zipabout storming to the line to eclipse rivals by 1 ¼ lengths racing away.
Tomorrow Western gets his chance to make it four in a row with Zipabout, who pops up for his hardest assignment to date taking on BM70+ for the first time in the Life Members HCP 1300m – Whiting retains the ride.
Later in the program, veteran conveyance Insurgency for Garry Delane will be looking to return to the winners list following two recent close seconds that halted an impressive run of victories.
Securing three wins in a row since Boxing Day last year, the Street Cry 10yr has had its colours lowered in the last couple – beaten by Toned at Mount Barker, before failing to pick up Backhouse Street last start at Albany.
Insurgency gets its chance to extract revenge on both rivals tomorrow in the Cup Day 15th March HCP BM70+ 1850m – apprentice Kate Fitzgerald will hop back in the saddle, in a hope to continue her winning association with the grand campaigner.
