Race 1 – 1:17PM UAA MAIDEN (1600 METRES)
Keen on MORE FIZZ in the opening event of the day. Liked her on debut over 1300m and she made a big impression late, when putting together some of the better sectionals of the day. Looks suited rising to the mile second up and with a typically-patient Pike ride, should run over the top of these late. DEPUTANO produced a solid debut in a competitive 1400m affair, making good late ground and appears likely to appreciate this trip also. POWDERBELLE was a bit stiff not to break through at York 10/10 when spearing off on straightening, while FUHRER had admirers in a strong form race on debut.
Suggested: 5. MORE FIZZ win.

Race 2 – 1:52PM CGU MAIDEN (1100 METRES)
Found it hard to split nicely-bred first-starters THREE EZE, SOUTHSTAR and ROBERTA, and would be surprised if one of these three didn’t win. Ended up locking in the double-engaged (Race 1-Ascot 16/10) Three Eze on top, having been waiting for him to step out after first showing up in a Lark Hill 20/05 trial. Breezed up nicely in a recent 400m trial and looks ready to fire on debut. Southstar caught the eye when coming from last in her Lark Hill 7/10 trial, and $110,000 yearling Roberta has shown early speed and promise in her lead-up trials. While WHAT PLANET YOU ON had no luck first up.
Suggested: 7. SOUTHSTAR win.
2. WHAT PLANET YOU ON

Race 3 – 2:28PM VERO HANDICAP (1300 METRES)
Providing the double-engaged (Race 4-Ascot 16/10) MELTEME lines up, she should be too strong for these at her first outing in 64 days. Performed consistently during the Belmont winter, and was unlucky not to win two or three races in which she was forced to settle for placings. Heavenly Affair formlines read very well and with McNaught on board, Melteme looks the one. POWER AND PASSION attacked the line well first up over 1000m last time, when taking on some handy opposition. Rates highly. A freshened VAGABOND BOY can figure, while AL CAPITANO always competes well at this track.
Suggested: 3. POWER AND PASSION win.

4. VAGABOND BOY
2. AL CAPITANO

Race 4 – 3:05PM AHI HANDICAP (1000 METRES)
Expecting zippy filly NOBEL TIME to give them something to catch first up. Showed heaps of potential at trials as a juvenile, but something was clearly amiss on debut and she was sent to the paddock. Returned in good order with a strong all-the-way Lark Hill 7/10 and if she brings that form to raceday, she’ll take some beating. She will face strong opposition though, with CELIATORE, FRIDAY FILLIES and CLASSIC PRO all more than capable of winning. Celiatore was most impressive in her recent maiden win, Friday Fillies has raced well all prep, while the classy Classic Pro can impact first up.
Suggested: 7. NOBEL TIME win.
7. NOBEL TIME
2. FRIDAY FILLIES
1. CLASSIC PRO
Race 5 – 3:45PM CLUB MARINE MAIDEN (1600 METRES)
Opted to go a little wide in this mile maiden with DREAMY ALICE. Should’ve finished closer when resuming two back, getting held up and losing momentum at a crucial stage, and felt she boxed on quite well after facing the breeze three-wide throughout last time. Due for a change of luck and with a reasonable run in transit, she can go close. Pearce Bros-trained stablemates GOLDVEIN and BAFFLING will have plenty of admirers, and expecting them to figure prominently at the finish, while CINNAMON RUN was poor first up but is better than that and no surprise to see sharp improvement.
Suggested: 9. DREAMY ALICE each way.
9. DREAMY ALICE
1. CINNAMON RUN
Race 6 – 4:25PM COUNTRY WIDE INSURANCE BROKERS HANDICAP (1400 METRES)
Competitive line up, but if the free-wheeling ARCHANT can tap into his best form first up, he’ll be hard to beat. Forget his two runs last prep when found to have a virus, and if you assess his earlier form around the likes of Angelic Ruler and Sliced Bread, and his recent trial behind Here Comes Lenni, then he simply has to rate highly. HEART OF COEUR had every chance first up in town and just missed in a blanket finish. Maps to advantage again. FORK HANDLES comes through the same race and was blocked for a run the entire straight, while TAP THE GO GO can improve without surprising.
Suggested: 2. ARCHANT win.
1. HEART OF COEUR
3. FORK HANDLES
7. TAP THE GO GO
Race 7 – 5:00PM NTI MAIDEN (1300 METRES)
Lookout for CORNFLOWER to swoop late first up. Was big on debut in a decent race at Pinjarra in April and caught the eye when not knocked around in her Lark Hill 1/10 barrier trial. Expecting her to settle in the back half, but she has the closing speed to make things interesting late. OBSTINATION looks the likely fave factoring in her Miss West Coast form and with Pike in the saddle. Suited from low draw and is the obvious way to go. ANNIHILATOR can come forward after his solid first-up run in Kalgoorlie, while SHADOW SHIFTER was a bit stiff not to break through in a similar event last start.
Suggested: 11. CORNFLOWER each way.
3. SHADOW SHIFTER
