Race 1 – 1:27PM TABTOUCH BETTER YOUR BET HANDICAP (2200 METRES)

Looks the right race for THREADS OF IVEY. Was engaged Belmont 14/08, but scratched in preference for this, and she really does get her chance. Chased home subsequent metro winner Here Comes Lenni in a similar event two back and her latest effort was much better than it reads. Will appreciate a senior rider back on board and this small field really suits. BLACK CHIPS did beat home Threads of Ivey last start and maps to enjoy the run of the race in transit. ROCKFORD LEGEND broke through this track/distance last time, while VAGABOND BOY is coming off a narrow Pinjarra maiden win.

Tips: 5-3-1-2
Suggested: 5. THREADS OF IVEY win.

5. THREADS OF IVEY
3. BLACK CHIPS
1. ROCKFORD LEGEND
2. VAGABOND BOY

Race 2 – 2:05PM GANNONS LADIES DAY OCT 6 MAIDEN (1100 METRES)

Plenty to consider in this 1100m maiden and ended up siding with first-upper SOWAR. Showed up at trials last prep, before not having a lot of luck at his Pinjarra debut, and he caught the eye in his latest Lark Hill 5/8 trial when stretching out comfortably after facing the breeze in the three-wide line throughout. Should go close with even luck from the draw. ELLIE’N’PINK finished alongside Sowar in her most recent trial and is expected to make her presence felt on debut. Hails from the right camp also. HENTY LASS was luckless first up, while anticipating a strong fresh result for KAZKAZI.

Tips: 9-10-6-8
Suggested: 9. SOWAR win.

9. SOWAR
10. ELLIE’N’PINK
6. HENTY LASS
8. KAZKAZI

Race 3 – 2:42PM #VISITNORTHAM MAIDEN (1300 METRES)

Can’t look past BORN TO TRY. Appeared above average at trials and was all the rage when $1.60 on debut, however, she found Some Sort a little too sharp over the 1000m. Still closed strong late though and ran around greenly when under pressure, so the effort was full of merit, and she really should relish rising to the 1300m. Looks to have these covered. YAMATAI stretched out nicely in her Lark Hill 29/07 trial win and she’ll have admirers on debut. Anticipating positive tactics from the draw. ANCIENT REMEDY can improve sharply, while LEICA JAGUAR is suited with blinkers on.

Tips: 4-11-5-2
Suggested: 4. BORN TO TRY win.

4. BORN TO TRY
11. YAMATAI
5. ANCIENT REMEDY
2. LEICA JAGUAR

Race 4 – 3:17PM GANNONS SPORTSWEAR AND TROPHIES MAIDEN HANDICAP (1300 METRES)

This 1300m maiden is well-and-truly up for grabs and if EBONY’S WAY can repeat her last-start Belmont performance she’ll give it a shake. Ridden cold from barrier 13 on that occasion, but ran on very well with standout closing sections that were among the fastest of the day. Can land closer from the low draw and should get the requited galloping room with the cutaway in play. AL CAPITANO was brave when wide throughout last start and that effort was too strong to ignore. First-upper TALENT SCHOOL should roll forward and figure prominently, and lookout for DAFOX and KRISTELLA running on late.

Tips: 3-1-10-7
Suggested: 3. EBONY’S WAY each way.

3. EBONY’S WAY
1. AL CAPITANO
10. TALENT SCHOOL
7. DAFOX

Race 5 – 3:53PM XXXX GOLD NORTHAM CUP OCT 27 MAIDEN (1600 METRES)

BRAVE CALL looks the one to beat. Big effort behind Blue Horse two back and took it right up to odds-on fave Too Close The Sun last time, unsuccessfully protesting against the winner after copping a bump in the straight. Maps to advantage from the low draw and should get every possible chance. PRECIOUS CARGO comes through the same race as Brave Call and is building trust with consistent effort. Expected to land on-speed and fight out the finish. Likely leader XAARMERIT ran cheeky race fresh and can elevate second up, while BOOTLEG RASCAL has to be among the major players.

Tips: 5-11-4-1
Suggested: 5. BRAVE CALL win.

5. BRAVE CALL
11. PRECIOUS CARGO
4. XAARMERIT
1. BOOTLEG RASCAL

Race 6 – 4:32PM WWW.NORTHAMRACECLUB.COM HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

Can make a strong case for saddle cloth numbers one through six, but eventually opted to side with SMART FOX. Has been kept to the Pinjarra Straight 1000 so far this prep, digging deep to scramble in third up last start, but has raced well this track/distance previously. Maps to land in the box seat from gate one and there should be no excuses. Likely leader CITICHANT is racing in career-best form and is likely to prove hard to catch again. First-upper WANNA BE GOOD is coming off a strong prep and will be running on well late, while METRO BOY has to rate highly on the five-day back up.

Tips: 4-5-3-2
Suggested: 4. SMART FOX win.

4. SMART FOX
5. CITICHANT
3. WANNA BE GOOD
2. METRO BOY

Race 7 – 5:10PM 6PR KIDS DAY OUT SEPT 30 HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

Sticking with PEARLS FROM HEAVEN. Was keen on her when resuming two weeks back and she competed well in the fastest race of the day, chasing home the front-running I’m Icey, who has stamped the formline since. With a patient ride from a mid draw, this mare should be too strong late. SUSPECTUS has some ability and worked home nicely first up. Maps to drift back and run on late again. DREAM ALLIANCE enjoyed the run of the race first up for his new stable and got the job done. High draw makes this assignment harder, while no surprise to see MASTER PEARL run a race after a nice mid-prep trial.

Tips: 5-2-1-6
Suggested: 5. PEARLS FROM HEAVEN each way.

5. PEARLS FROM HEAVEN
2. SUSPECTUS
1. DREAM ALLIANCE
6. MASTER PEARL
