Race 1 – 1:12PM WWW.NORTHAMRACECLUB.COM MAIDEN (1100 METRES)

Plenty of chances in this and with low confidence ended up with IT’S TIFF’S on top. Looked the goods when strolling to an all-the-way win in a Lark Hill 10/6 trial, but was slow away, couldn’t find the front and unable to impact as a $3 fancy on debut. Pacifiers go on for tractability, and if she can jump well and find the front she’s capable of sharp improvement. First-upper CHEVAL DE VAGA has shown promise previously and two trials have been good enough to go close in this. Liked the way first-starter GUITAR TOM ran on in his 24/6 trial, while MEXI COLA has ability but may need further.

Tips: 9-5-6-3
Suggested: 9. IT’S TIFF’S each way.

9. IT’S TIFF’S
5. CHEVAL DE VAGA
6. GUITAR TOM
3. MEXI COLA

Race 2 – 1:47PM GANNONS MAIDEN (1100 METRES)

Liked the Lark Hill 10/6 trial win from ROSEICAPILLA and anticipating a strong first-up showing. Was tipped out after enduring a hard run on debut, but looked really sharp in her recent 950m heat, jumping quickly to lead and drawing clear late with a bit in the tank. If she can find the front or land outside leader, she’ll go close. Possible leader SASSATIONAL made the well-regarded Sirius Magic earn the win last start and has to be considered a major player in this. ANGEL JUPITER was too bad to be true last time and can win if right, while SUPER TEROITOA hasn’t been far away in two runs back.

Tips: 7-4-9-1
Suggested: 7. ROSEICAPILLA each way.

7. ROSEICAPILLA
4. SASSATIONAL
9. ANGEL JUPITER
1. SUPER TEROITOA

Race 3 – 2:22PM XXXX GOLD HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

Plenty of gate speed engaged in this competitive event, but the class runner is first-upper NICKEL QUEEN. Impressed in initial racing campaign (probably should be unbeaten) with form around some handy types, and liked the way she covered the ground in her Lark Hill 24/6 trial win. With even luck, she should have these covered. SIR MAMBO is engaged to start at Belmont 3/7, but is holding strong form and if he lines up in this is the obvious danger. WIENER WALTZ knocked off the smart Seven Castles last time, but the 35-day break is a query, while YOELQUI and WAKAN TANKA warrant consideration.

Tips: 7-6-5-4
Suggested: 7. NICKEL QUEEN win.

7. NICKEL QUEEN
6. YOELQUI
5. WAKAN TANKA
4. CHISANO

Race 4 – 2:57PM TABTOUCH BETTER YOUR BET MAIDEN HANDICAP (1600 METRES)

Expecting BLACK RUSSIAN and LADY SI DAENG to fight out it out, with Black Russian getting the nod on top. These two finished alongside each other when resuming over 1300m at Northam 20/6 and both should improve second up, with Black Russian drawn to get the better run in transit. With Pike on from gate one, the full brother and stablemate to Come Play With Me should break through. Lady Si Daeng was brave when wide throughout last time and that effort was too good to ignore. OUQBA TED has caught the eye at his last two, while possible leader AHYOKA FROST is fit and holding sound form.

Tips: 1-4-5-8
Suggested: 1. BLACK RUSSIAN win.

1. BLACK RUSSIAN
4. LADY SI DAENG
5. OUQBA TED
8. AHYOKA FROST

Race 5 – 3:32PM MANE EVENT CAFÉ MAIDEN (1300 METRES)

Nice option for BRAVE CALL. Been tracking his progress for over 12 months now and it was hard not to notice his first-up Belmont 19/6 effort, running on strong from last with the second-fastest last 200m of the day. With a reasonable run in transit he should take some beating. MANHATTAN MONEY has been truck-loaded in two runs this prep, but let her supporters down on both occasions. Wasn’t 100% last start and happy to give her one more chance with Pike hopping on. MICHELLE MA BELLE will push forward and box on late, while AL CAPITANO likes Northam and was solid in a similar event first up.

Tips: 9-13-11-2
Suggested: 9. BRAVE CALL each way.

9. BRAVE CALL
13. MANHATTAN MONEY
11. MICHELLE MA BELLE
2. AL CAPITANO

Race 6 – 4:12PM WESTERN RACEPIX HANDICAP (1300 METRES)

Really looking forward to seeing what EARLY EXPLORER can do first up. Appeared above average last prep and rounded out the campaign with a fighting Ascot win against some decent opposition. Likely lands in the back half in running, but does possess the closing speed to swoop over the top. Nice horse in the making. Fellow first-upper DIVINE SHADOW did a big job when he was last in work and hails from an in-form Pope stable. Low draw suits also. ARTIE’S JEWELS is improving with every start and is coming off a strong-rating maiden win, while likely leader I’M ICEY can show cheek.

Tips: 2-1-3-4
Suggested: 2. EARLY EXPLORER win.

2. EARLY EXPLORER
1. DIVINE SHADOW
3. ARTIE’S JEWELS
4. I’M ICEY

Race 7 – 4:50PM #VISITNORTHAM HANDICAP (1100 METRES)

Decent handicap to finish and confident PEARL GIRL can fire first up. Showed plenty as an early-season 3YO last prep and her two impressive trial wins recently suggest she’s taken another step forward this time in work. Dual-winner over this trip and with even luck from a midfield running position, she’ll take some holding out. The consistent LIDO BEACH has to be a major contender coming back in grade, with the Festival Miss/Father Knick metro form stacking up. REQUISITION is more than capable of giving this a nudge first up, while CRISTAL DANE has bar plates on but her best is good enough.

Tips: 8-1-6-4
Suggested: 8. PEARL GIRL each way.

8. PEARL GIRL
1. LIDO BEACH
6. REQUISITION
4. CRISTAL DANE
