Race 1 – 12:25PM GANNONS SPORTSWEAR AND TROPHIES MAIDEN (2200 METRES)
This looks the race for ALBY’S PRIDE. Can’t fault what he’s been doing at Pinjarra recently and he’s a bit stiff not to have broken through already, so with a patient ride in this small field, apprentice Laqdar Ramoly should guide Alby’s Pride over the top of these late. RIDING HOOD FAME comes through the same races as the on-top selection and has been competing well also. Lands on top of the speed and boxes on. SNOW BAMBOO was an eye-catcher last start, but 1400m to 2200m has to be a query, while SPECIAL IMAGE should be closing in on a peak performance at her fourth run in.
Suggested: 1. ALBY’S PRIDE win.
1. ALBY’S PRIDE
5. RIDING HOOD FAME
4. SNOW BAMBOO
6. SPECIAL IMAGE
Race 2 – 1:05PM IRON JACK MAIDEN (1000 METRES)
Sharp filly SWEETASSA should be too slick first up. Promised plenty at trials last prep and got some valuable race experience into her, and looked the goods in her Belmont 11/05 trial win, cruising to the line to score by 3.4L. Expected to jump, rail in front and run these off their feet. Did like the latest trial result from first-starter UNIVERSAL PLEASURE and no surprise to see her figure prominently. Hit the line with a bit in the tank in her Belmont 11/05 heat. PROTECTED ACTION can lift her rating second up, while IVONIC was another to catch the eye at the Belmont 11/05 trials.
Suggested: 5. SWEETASSA win.
9. UNIVERSAL PLEASURE
1. PROTECTED ACTION
Race 3 – 1:40PM DEBORTOLI WINES MAIDEN (1100 METRES)
Expecting the blinkers to really sharpen up WILD VALLEY. Ran into a pretty hot maiden first up at Belmont and that was her first appearance since a Lark Hill 28/01 trial, so the hit-out should bring her forward nicely. This isn’t a particularly deep maiden and with positive tactics from a mid draw, Wild Valley should give it a shake. PALAVER is an obvious contender, with consistent form and the ability to utilise her low draw. Didn’t mind the way FAIR FORCE found the line at Pinjarra last start, while Pike going on JOYRIZE can’t be underestimated.
Suggested: 8. WILD VALLEY win.
8. WILD VALLEY
5. FAIR FORCE
Race 4 – 2:20PM TABTOUCH BETTER YOUR BET MAIDEN (1300 METRES)
DOOWAHDIDDY was very stiff not to win last start and gets a swift opportunity to make amends in this. Ran into a heap of strife in the straight on the occasion, unsuccessfully protesting against the second placegetter, but with a clear crack at them on this occasion, should take some holding out. DUSTYPARK has race fitness and solid recent form, and maps ideally from this low draw. Ramoly’s 3kg claim helps also. A fresh JAY DEE can find the rail in front and give them something to catch, while VICTORIOUSCHINO has been off the scene for a while but is capable of making her presence felt against this line up.
Suggested: 7. DOOWAHDIDDY win.
3. JACK IN THE BLACK
*Numbers amended after scratchings
Race 5 – 2:55PM NORTHAM MAZDA HANDICAP (1400 METRES)
THE ITALIAN JOB was ridden aggressively from gate 11 to salute first up at Belmont and anticipating similar positivity from another high draw heading to Northam. Easily disposed of his rivals on that occasion, franking some of the form he showed when last in work, and he appears a horse who should appreciate the rise to 1400m. Kalgoorlie visitor GALAHS DO ROAR can run a cheeky race without surprising, while STAROF BONNIE ROSE warrants consideration coming back from 1800m and mapping for an economical run in transit. Expecting sharp improvement from second-uppers PRAYING WITH GOD and SAFETY BAY also.
Suggested: 1. THE ITALIAN JOB win.
1. THE ITALIAN JOB
9. GALAHS DO ROAR
3. STAROF BONNIE ROSE
10. PRAYING WITH GOD
6. SAFETY BAY
Race 6 – 3:30PM NORTHAM TRADERS’ SPRINT (1300 METRES)
Plenty of hopes but happy to side with INFLATION first up. This fellow does have his share of ability, with his best form stacking up very well, and he did look to have some spark back in his lead-up Lark Hill 18/05 trial win. Gives himself every chance up on top of the speed and does have a strong Northam profile also. The consistent PASTRY has to rate highly after her Provincial Championship Final placing, and she looks to get every chance from the draw with Pike on. SIRIUS MAGIC is a last-start winner and hails from a red-hot camp, while lookout for GLASGOW GIRL and HEART OF COEUR rattling home late.
Suggested: 4. INFLATION each way.
7. SIRIUS MAGIC
2. GLASGOW GIRL
3. HEART OF COEUR
Race 7 – 4:05PM TABTOUCH WA DAY CUP (1600 METRES)
Have a bit of time for the 3YO FUHRER and he will give supporters a run for their money in the WA Day Cup. Ran into a pretty smart one in Resortman last start, in one of the faster races of the day, and that form looks strong against this field. Should get the right on-pace run in transit and fight out the finish. FINGERMARK has returning to racing in strong form and was really good at Pinjarra last start. Maps to advantage again and does enjoy racing at Northam. TRUMP THIS is starting to be very costly, BARTRADER deserves to win one soon, while likely leader UNCLE LINO will be boxing on well late.
Suggested: 1. FUHRER win.
9. TRUMP THIS
7. UNCLE LINO
Race 8 – 4:40PM #visitnortham HANDICAP (1000 METRES)
Looks a sweet first-up option for speedster AMELIA BEDELIA. Kicked off her previous campaign with a Northam 1000m victory and looks set to repeat the dose, with her Belmont 11/05 trial win suggesting the Harvey Racing combo have her ready to fire fresh. Should find the rail in front and be too fast. KING’S AUTHORITY is flying in the Goldfields and is really responding to apprentice Madi Derrick. Genuine threat. 3YO filly ROBERTA looks well placed and should be hitting her straps at this stage of her prep, while ALCINA gives the impression she’ll be winning a race soon.
Suggested: 2. AMELIA BEDELIA win.
2. AMELIA BEDELIA
1. KING’S AUTHORITY
