Race 1 – 1:48PM EMU EXPORT MAIDEN (1250 METRES)

JAGUAR GREY is a promising filly and with even luck should be saluting. Big run behind some quality types first up, before getting a long way out of her ground last time and putting in some huge strides late to run on into second. That was some effort and this looks her race. PAMBELLA has been solid in two outings this prep though and appears a genuine danger, despite being 1500m back to 1250m third up. INSTANT HIT enjoyed a soft lead at Bunbury last time and boxed on evenly late. She can roll forward and figure prominently again, while possible leader YULONG ROCKSTAR strips fitter second up.

Tips: 8-9-10-2
Suggested: 8. JAGUAR GREY win.

8. JAGUAR GREY
9. PAMBELLA
10. INSTANT HIT
2. YULONG ROCKSTAR

Race 2 – 2:23PM BYRON BAY BREWERY MAIDEN (1250 METRES)

ZENAZE is the one to beat. Didn’t finish off as expected first up, but really attacked the line after a more patient ride last time, clocking a standout final 200m split. Should be peaking at this stage of his prep and maps ideally with cover from the low draw. $360,000 yearling purchase STARAUTHORESS makes his WA debut and it was hard not to take notice of his Lark Hill 4/11 trial win. Looks capable of making things interesting late. IGARASHI had no luck when wide throughout last time, but can improve with blinkers on from this gate, while RAPID TRANSIT will find this easier than last start.

Tips: 2-7-13-4
Suggested: 2. ZENAZE win.

2. ZENAZE
7. STARAUTHORESS
13. IGARASHI
4. RAPID TRANSIT

Race 3 – 3:05PM HAHN SUPER DRY MAIDEN (1600 METRES)

SULPHUR CRESTED has to rate highly. Dan Morton has sought out ‘The Wizard’ William Pike to guide this mare to an overdue maiden win, and while the 33 days between runs is not ideal, she should enjoy a lovely run from the low draw and not burn too much fuel in transit. Suited with cutaway rail in play and all the form around her stacks up. JAG THE JOKER bombed her Kalgoorlie debut, but was a lot more tractable at Northam last time. Capable of elevating further with experience. FUSION has shown enough at trials to warrant consideration on debut, while DROP THE ORANGE is ready to fire fresh.

Tips: 4-6-10-2
Suggested: 4. SULPHUR CRESTED win.

4. SULPHUR CRESTED
6. JAG THE JOKER
10. FUSION
2. DROP THE ORANGE

Race 4 – 3:40PM XXXX SUMMER BRIGHT MAIDEN (1100 METRES)

Keen on the chances of first-upper WAR IN PARADISE. Showed plenty of potential when last in work and was readied for this with a Belmont 28/10 trial, where she ran into plenty of traffic and should’ve won the heat comfortably. Maps to get the right run with McNaught on board. WICKLOW PRINCESS matched motors with some quality as a juvenile and couldn’t have been more impressive in her Lark Hill 4/11 trial win. Major player fresh. First-starter PUT A SPELL ON YOU is a very interesting runner, having caught the eye at trials, while stablemate ASCENDANCY is a contender also.

Tips: 5-8-10-9
Suggested: 5. WAR IN PARADISE win.

5. WAR IN PARADISE
8. WICKLOW PRINCESS
10. PUT A SPELL ON YOU
9. ASCENDANCY

Race 5 – 4:15PM IRON JACK HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

Backing in Harvey Racing to get VALIDATION to rebound after a disappointing last-start result. Broke through for a deserved maiden win second up, but put in a flat one on a rain-affected surface against better opposition than this last time. Back on top of the ground and McNaught on from a low draw breeds confidence. Likely leader NOBEL TIME was made to work second up and popped late. Shouldn’t encounter as much pressure in this and can hit back back. REGAL POYSE ran into a hot race last time and she’s expected to elevate with blinkers on, while SAFETY BAY is coming off a strong maiden win.

Tips: 3-6-7-8
Suggested: 3. VALIDATION win.

3. VALIDATION
6. NOBEL TIME
7. REGAL POYSE
8. SAFETY BAY

Race 6 – 4:45PM XXXX GOLD HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

Kept coming back to BURNING PRIDE. Looked the goods in her first prep for Team Williams, winning second up at Pinjarra and starting favourite twice in town. Didn’t over-exert in her Lark Hill 4/11 trial and does looks set to enjoy a sweet run in transit, stalking an anticipated genuine tempo. Stable has gone back to straight blinkers with ACERMETRIC and this fellow can certainly go close, coming back from 1800m. Should lob in a lovely running position also. GAME OF WAR has his struggles at the start, but if he begins he can really impact first up, while ALTA SULL’AMORE is next best.

Tips: 2-3-5-4
Suggested: 2. BURNING PRIDE win.

2. BURNING PRIDE
3. ACERMETRIC
5. GAME OF WAR
4. ALTA SULL’AMORE

Race 7 – 5:15PM FURPHY HANDICAP (2200 METRES)

Competitive handicap to finish the day and happy to be with SHADOW HUNTER. His 2150m effort at this track two back was a complete forgive run and he improved as expected against some handy types when back to the mile at Bunbury last time. Has the grounding now to run out a strong 2200m and maps to advantage also. HIGH ENERGY was been competitive in better company than this recently and he’s an obvious major player. Has already won twice this track/distance. Didn’t mind the last run of DEEP PURPLE, who slides in on 54.5kg, while UPWARD OTHERS looks very well placed back in grade.

Tips: 4-2-8-1
Suggested: 4. SHADOW HUNTER each way.

4. SHADOW HUNTER
2. HIGH ENERGY
8. DEEP PURPLE
1. UPWARD OTHERS
