Race 1 – 12:39PM TABTOUCH – BETTER YOUR BET PLATE (1200 METRES)
Tricky race for the 2YOs, but have quite liked the trials of NOBLE REFLECTION and he should be making an impact on debut. Went to the line with a bit in reserve when winning his Belmont 14/6 heat, maps to advantage and hails from the right camp. OBSTINATION was brave on debut and the should come forward naturally with the race experience. Step up to 1200m is likely to suit also. GOTTA MOTOR has some talent and will run well, although the gate makes things interesting, while likely leader ARION LASS is coming off two sharp lead-up trial wins and should give a sight out in front.
Suggested: 3. NOBLE REFLECTION each way.
3. NOBLE REFLECTION
1. GOTTA MOTOR
6. ARION LASS
Race 2 – 1:14PM FREE ENTRY TO BELMONT PARK MAIDEN (1400 METRES)
Expecting Peters Investments filly DELTA BELLE to be hard to beat. Was $3.30 to $1.90 at her Pinjarra debut, but nothing went right, settling in the back half and getting blocked behind tiring horses on the turn. Ran on quite well late under the circumstances and with even luck in this, should make amends. LADIES OF LONDON had admirers on debut also and competed strongly, with the Advocator form stacking up. Has to be a major player in this. Thought the first start of SITDOWN BE HUMBLE was encouraging and with a clean getaway, should get a lovely run, while ENSIGN PULVER can run a race fresh.
Suggested: 14. DELTA BELLE each way.
14. DELTA BELLE
12. LADIES OF LONDON
10. SITDOWN BE HUMBLE
5. ENSIGN PULVER
Race 3 – 1:49PM PERTH RACING CLUB MEMBERSHIP HANDICAP (1200 METRES)
Plenty of runners worth consideration, but happy to side with STORMY RULER first up. Showed plenty during his initial racing campaign, with formlines around decent opposition, and has been readied for this with two lead-up trials. Likes to race on top of the speed and should fire up fresh. ADMIRATION STREET is a nice enough filly who did a good job when last in work. Caught the eye in her Lark Hill 10/6 trial. $140,000 yearling WRITTEN LAW has shown enough at trials and will attract support in debut, while OKINA KURI and CHAMPAGNE GAL come through the same race and shouldn’t be taken lightly.
Suggested: 2. STORMY RULER each way.
2. STORMY RULER
6. ADMIRATION STREET
5. WRITTEN LAW
1. OKINA KURI
Race 4 – 2:24PM PINK LADIES LUNCHEON – SATURDAY 6 JULY HANDICAP (1000 METRES)
Heap of pace engaged and expecting likely leaders MISSING PRO and CLASSY LASSY to fight out the finish. Missing Pro showed brilliant gate speed to cross some fast horses this track/distance last time out and dug deep to finish fourth in a particularly strong race. That was a strong result and she’ll take some beating. Classy Lassy led throughout on a Heavy 8 this track/distance first up, justifying her $2.70 quote. Slick filly and deserves respect. Liked the way ALCINA hit the line last start, clocking impressive closing sectionals, while no surprise to see first-upper DEMERITISE compete well.
Suggested: 2. MISSING PRO win.
2. MISSING PRO
5. CLASSY LASSY
Race 5 – 3:00PM KIRIN MEGUMI HANDICAP (1700 METRES)
There’s a bit of form to work with in this and eventually landed on MELTEME. Gave her rivals a touch up when resuming at Northam and couldn’t get into the race from barrier nine last start, with the effort better than it reads, especially her final 200m. Maps to enjoy a much more favourable run from gate one and should make her presence felt up over this trip. Peters Investments duo ZARATITE and TRUE IMAGE will attract a wave of support, and look hard to beat, while THE LAST BREEZE and FAIREDU should both roll forward from high draws and box on with strength late.
Suggested: 6. MELTEME each way.
8. TRUE IMAGE
2. THE LAST BREEZE
Race 6 – 3:35PM AMELIA PARK HANDICAP (1200 METRES)
Thinking ABBY LANE can give this a shake. Bungled the start when resuming in a strong Graduation Handicap over 1000m and did a big job to work his way into the race late, getting through the going and running some decent closing splits. Drawn to enjoy a lovely run in transit, closer to the speed, and anticipating a strong finish. Have some time for LIPSTICK FLICKERS and TRAKIATO, and if they can find reasonable running positions from their high draws, they’ll both go close, while possible leader ANGRY ANNIE has been kept fresh since a dominant Pinjarra 28/4 win and much be considered.
Suggested: 3. ABBY LANE each way.
3. ABBY LANE
7. LIPSTICK FLICKERS
10. ANGRY ANNIE
Race 7 – 4:10PM D’ORSOGNA HANDICAP (1400 METRES)
This looks the right race for BEAT THE BELL. Has finished off strongly at both runs this prep and should be ready to produce a peak performance third up rising to the 1400m. Has a good profile at this trip, with form around some handy types, and should get the galloping room she needs with the cutaway in play. PLAYING MARIKA accounted for Beat The Bell last time out when $4 into $3.50 late in betting. This is a filly with ability who knows how to win. Tough front-runner SCANDAL MAKER loves the rain-affected and was strong at Pinjarra 13/6, while AMELIE ARGOT was a good thing beat last start.
Suggested: 11. BEAT THE BELL each way.
11. BEAT THE BELL
8. PLAYING MARIKA
4. SCANDAL MAKER
5. AMELIE ARGOT
Race 8 – 4:45PM QUAYCLEAN HANDICAP (2100 METRES)
Been tracking ALTAMONT all prep and this a solid option for him. Had been catching the eye when running on late in better 2000m-plus races than this, before coming back to the mile last week and competing well. Looks really suited up in trip off the seven-day break and from the low draw should get every opportunity. SUGAR CAIN has put the writing on the wall with two big-finishing Pinjarra efforts this prep. Pike going on is a massive bonus and she’ll take some beating. COCKATIEL is race fit, in form and an obvious chance, while JIMMY RAPID wasn’t far away last time and the low draw suits.
Suggested: 1. ALTAMONT each way.
12. SUGAR CAIN
4. JIMMY RAPID
