Race 1 – 12:43PM GO RACING FOR FREE BEFORE THE FOOTY PLATE (1300 METRES)
After a smart debut victory CRYPTIC WONDER looks the horse to beat again. Only won by a half-length as a $1.55 fave, but did appear to have a bit in reserve even after clocking the fourth-fastest last 200m of the day. Should get every opportunity from the draw and be too strong late. Impressed with the way NO APOLOGY matched Cryptic Wonder’s closing speed last start, following up a strong first-up 1000m win. Looks the biggest danger again. KELVIN is coming off a 28-day break, but has the talent to go close, while likely leader THAT’S FUNNY AZ was brave against similar opposition last start.
Suggested: 3. CRYPTIC WONDER win.

Race 2 – 1:23PM TABTOUCH – BETTER YOUR BET HANDICAP (1200 METRES)
Good test for boom sprinter BATTLE STORM, but confident he can stretch his unbeaten run to six. Let rip with the standout sectionals of the day last start, continuing to showcase his talent, but is rising to 1200m for the first time and from the draw may be spotting some quality types a decent head-start in running. All things being equal though, he should still storm over the top. Free-wheeling front-runner BELTER could be the one to stretch the fave, with his best form rating very highly. IN LOVE WITH PARIS had no luck last week and is building nicely, while ABDICATOR goes good also.
Suggested: 4. BATTLE STORM win.

6. IN LOVE WITH PARIS
Race 3 – 2:03PM GLENROY CHAFF HANDICAP (1000 METRES)
Found it hard to separate DON’T FUSS and NIGHT VOYAGE, and opted for Don’t Fuss. Enjoyed a decent rails run after bungling the start last time, but does race best away from the rail, so this draw suits, as does the booking of regular rider Jarrad Noske. Really made Battle Storm earn the win two back and that form must be respected. Night Voyage enhanced his excellent Belmont 1000m record first up and will attract a wave of support with Pike on board. PRETENTIOUS CHANT is a wildcard, but his closing speed last start was quite brilliant, while DANNY GEORGE is flying, but gate one is a query.
Suggested: 3. DON’T FUSS win.
3. DON’T FUSS
2. NIGHT VOYAGE
4. PRETENTIOUS CHANT
7. DANNY GEORGE
Race 4 – 2:39PM BELMONT CLASSIC (2200 METRES)
Can’t see anything troubling outstanding filly MYSTERY MISS as she searches for a Belmont Guineas/Belmont Oaks/Belmont Classic winning treble. Certainly didn’t over-exert when taking care of business in a very-slowly run Oaks, and this looks set to be another sit-and-sprint affair, with none of these capable of matching her closing speed. Have a bit of time for RIVALRY GALORE and really liked his Aquanita Stakes effort, hitting the line hard. Should relish the 2200m. Rapidly improving DELTA BELLE is an interesting runner, while COCKATIEL was held up at a vital stage in the Oaks last time.
Suggested: 4. MYSTERY MISS win.

3. RIVALRY GALORE

Race 5 – 3:15PM QUAYCLEAN HANDICAP (2000 METRES)
Really keen on developing 3YO ZARATITE. Thought he was ready to win third up at Pinjarra 11/7, and while it was only a neck margin, he overcame significant issues in running to score like a smart horse. Pike back on and jumping from gate one with 55kg, should be winning. Stablemate SUGAR CAIN has impressed with back-to-back wins, showing strong closing speed at the end of 2100m. With clear galloping room late, she should be charging into the finish. The in-form CELTIC COURT shouldn’t be troubled rising to 2000m, DEALING can race on-speed and box on, while ROYAL STRATA is a possible knockout.
Suggested: 13. ZARATITE win.
12. SUGAR CAIN
7. CELTIC COURT
Race 6 – 3:50PM AMELIA PARK HANDICAP (1200 METRES)
Not a bad option for DAISHIO on the quick back up. Has endured tough runs from tricky gates recently, including last week when three/four wide entire. With a clean getaway from this low draw, she can enjoy a sweet run leader’s back, and if the gaps appear she’s sharp enough to capitalise. First-upper and possible leader MOET DE VEGA has a lot of talent and at his best can win. Gap since latest 4/6 trial and regular rider Carbery not on board are queries though. Fellow on-pacer CITICHANT is holding career-best form, while enigmatic mares FLOWER OF SCOTLAND and PEARL TRADE warrant consideration.
Suggested: 11. DAISHIO each way.
7. MOET DE VEGA
3. FLOWER OF SCOTLAND
Race 7 – 4:25PM CROWN PERTH HANDICAP (1400 METRES)
NEUROLOGICAL stands out in this. Came of age last prep with three-straight wins in very fast time, including two $100,000 feature provincial sprint victories. Really caught the eye when resuming in a strong 1200m event and with that run under his belt, and with Pike back on board from a low draw, he’s the one. WAR GOD tends to hold form once race-fit and expecting him to take up the running. Tough bugger, so will be hard to get past late. MIRACLE MAN may push forward and land outside leader from the high draw. Goes close from there, while TAXAGANO was good in a decent race first up last week.
Suggested: 4. NEUROLOGICAL win.
2. WAR GOD
6. MIRACLE MAN
Race 8 – 5:00PM BACK PIKE DRINK WHAT YOU LIKE HANDICAP (1400 METRES)
Wide-open race to finish and sticking with SNOWCHINO. Been with her all prep and she justified the loyalty with a strong midweek win this track/distance last start. Drops 4kg rising in grade and with positive tactics from the high draw, can work across and land on top of a likely genuine tempo. Expecting a strong fresh effort from MYCROFT after an eye-catching 8/7 trial. Did defeat WA Derby winner Regal Power first-up last prep. Possible leader NELSON’S FLIGHT has returned in good form and if right goes close, SPIRIT AND FIRE maps to advantage, while ASTRONOMITE could be the big improver.
Suggested: 15. SNOWCHINO each way.
6. NELSON’S FLIGHT
1. SPIRIT AND FIRE
