Race 1 – 12:34PM GLORY GLORY PLATE (1000 METRES)

Going to follow-up with LAVERROD. Impressed by his stylish 14/6 trial win and expected him to salute on debut, however, he did some extra work in running and couldn’t quite pick then up late. Confident he can improve with the raceday experience and should enjoy a more economical run in transit. Tough filly MIA DOLCE is set to charge forward from the outside alley and has the speed to get her rivals stretching their necks. First-upper IS A BOMBSHELL has ability and looked really sharp in her 24/6 trial win, while anticipating a strong debut from the cerise-and-white clad SIGNIFICANT HERO.

Tips: 4-1-9-6
Suggested: 4. LAVERROD win.

4. LAVERROD
1. MIA DOLCE
9. IS A BOMBSHELL
6. SIGNIFICANT HERO

Race 2 – 1:14PM VALE BRUNO TOGNINI HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

Tricky short-course handicap and with low confidence opted to lock in first-upper METRO BOY on top. Has a strong 1000-metre profile, with form around some talented types, and liked the way he stretched out behind the stakes-winning Abdicator in a Lark Hill 8/7 trial. Coiled up with cover in transit, he can let down well enough to get the job done. ROUTE EIGHTY EIGHT is backing up after another solid effort last week. Suited back to her preferred 1000m and should be hitting the line hard. Must consider the Pike factor on GLASGOW GIRL, while eastern-states import SHINJU is a big watch first up.

Tips: 4-8-3-10
Suggested: 4. METRO BOY each way.

4. METRO BOY
8. ROUTE EIGHTY EIGHT
3. GLASGOW GIRL
10. SHINJU

Race 3 – 1:54PM TABTOUCH – BETTER YOUR BET HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

Decent contest and LIPSTICK FLICKERS can measure up. Has recorded two smart wins this track/distance in lower grades recently, with both performances rating well, and she maps to land in a prime stalking position in transit. Will need to bring her A-game against these, but with the right run she can challenge. FESTIVAL MISS resumed with a rail-hugging 1000m win and should be even better suited rising to 1200m. No Pike, but still a major player. ESSENTIAL SPICE has stretched boom youngster Samizdat twice recently and warrants respect, while quality filly FLOWER OF WAR is suited back in trip.

Tips: 6-2-5-3
Suggested: 6. LIPSTICK FLICKERS each way.

6. LIPSTICK FLICKERS
2. FESTIVAL MISS
5. ESSENTIAL SPICE
3. FLOWER OF WAR

Race 4 – 2:34PM SWAN RIVER VASE (2200 METRES)

Looking forward to seeing GATTING and COME PLAY WITH ME cross swords, and all things being equal Gatting should have a slight class edge. Caused one of the bigger upsets in Perth for some time when knocking off the outstanding Galaxy Star two back and went oh so close to repeating the dose over 2000m last time. Won this race in a canter last year and should go back-to-back. Can’t fault serious staying prospect Come Play With Me, although he is coming off a 28-day break. Still, master trainer Durrant has set him for this race. EYE ART and MR ALBY round out the top four.

Tips: 1-2-7-5
Suggested: 1. GATTING win.

1. GATTING
2. COME PLAY WITH ME
7. EYE ART
5. MR ALBY

Race 5 – 3:10PM CROWN PERTH HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

FRED DAG appears ready to produce his best third up. Has loomed and peaked on his run at both outings this prep, but with increased race fitness and the addition of blinkers, he should elevate sufficiently to score. Suited rising to 1400m also. COMING AROUND ran his heart out in the Belmont Guineas, bumping into subsequent feature winners Mystery Miss and True Attraction. Has to be a major player. MANKIND claimed a similar event to this last time and maps to advantage from gate one again. DISTANT TRILOGY probably should’ve won last start, while NORDIC KING is capable of firing fresh.

Tips: 4-7-9-3
Suggested: 4. FRED DAG each way.

4. FRED DAG
7. COMING AROUND
9. MANKIND
3. DISTANT TRILOGY

Race 6 – 3:45PM AMELIA PARK HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

Really strong Rating 70+ Handicap, but found it hard to look past PYM’S ROYALE. Produced an exceptional first-up effort in a similar race to this, rattling home from last with the fastest last 200m split of the day. Should land much closer from the low draw and will be mighty hard to hold out. STAGEMAN got the win he deserved fourth up, making the most of a ground-saving Pike ride. Smart type, hard to beat again. The exciting FREE TRADE was brave in defeat when heavily supported last time and must be respected, IN LOVE WITH PARIS can win at his best, while PATROCITY is a must for the exotics.

Tips: 4-1-10-3
Suggested: 4. PYM’S ROYALE win.

4. PYM’S ROYALE
1. STAGEMAN
10. FREE TRADE
3. IN LOVE WITH PARIS

Race 7 – 4:20PM CHANELLE GALANTE 30TH BIRTHDAY HANDICAP (1600 METRES)

Tough-as front-runner THE VELVET KING has to be the horse to beat. Survived a spirited Lordhelpmerun challenge and a protest last start, but his racing manner saw him sent back to the Lark Hill 8/7 trials, where he went much straighter with a lugging bit on. Serious talent this fellow and at his best he should win. Gigantic 5YO MISSILE LAUNCH resumes and has looked on song in two lead-up 1450m trial wins. Capable of making a big impact. NIKITAS doesn’t have a flash 1600m profile, but the Team Williams factor is significant, while DARK PROSPECT and DOUBLE DIGIT are top-four contenders.

Tips: 3-4-2-8
Suggested: 3. THE VELVET KING win.

3. THE VELVET KING
4. MISSILE LAUNCH
2. NIKITAS
8. DOUBLE DIGIT

Race 8 – 4:55PM GARETH HALL FAREWELL HANDICAP (1600 METRES)

This is a tough test for topweight LORDHELPMERUN, but backing him in to rise to the challenge. Got the win he was looking for in this grade two back and was carted off the track by quality-type The Velvet King this track/distance last time, unsuccessfully protesting against the winner. 1600m a slight query, but Kirby can put him to sleep from the low draw and his class should take him a long way. MAKE MINE CHAMPERS jumped out of the ground last time and Pike on is massive. Can win. Expecting DEIMOS to rebound quickly, while PLAYING MARIKA and SKINNEN TINS can both figure prominently.

Tips: 1-15-7-16
Suggested: 1. LORDHELPMERUN each way.

1. LORDHELPMERUN
15. MAKE MINE CHAMPERS
7. DEIMOS
16. PLAYING MARIKA
