Race 1 – 11:43AM GO RACING FOR FREE BEFORE THE RUGBY MAIDEN (1400 METRES)

TOO FAT TOO SLOW should elevate nicely with the blinkers on second up. Showed up at trials prior to a strong debut effort when working to the line despite racing three-wide throughout. Anticipating positive tactics from the draw and if he can land outside leader he’ll go close. DIAMOND TRADE is a bit stiff not to have won her maiden yet, with high draws costing her victory at her last two outing. Maps awkwardly again, but still expected to be surging late. AMILLIONITE just can’t seem to crack it for a win but still has to be considered, while GOLDVEIN and STEVIE’S WONDER should be running on.

Tips: 4-7-6-3
Suggested: 4. TOO FAT TOO SLOW each way.

4. TOO FAT TOO SLOW
7. DIAMOND TRADE
6. AMILLIONITE
3. GOLDVEIN

Race 2 – 12:22PM WESTSPEED PLATINUM HANDICAP (1300 METRES)

Happy to side with promising front-runner TRAMONTANE. Trialled the house down at Lark Hill 15/7 and followed up with a comfortable Pinjarra 25/7 first-up maiden win, accounting for moderate opposition. Clearly this is a tougher assignment, but he appears to have class on his side, and he can lead and win again. I’M PRETTY will no doubt have plenty of admirers after two strong midweek wins. No Pike and maps mid/back, but should still be running on with strength. Not much separates on-pacers ZEPHYR QUEEN and MY LADY FAIR, and both should figure prominently from sweet low draws.

Tips: 6-1-3-5
Suggested: 6. TRAMONTANE win.

6. TRAMONTANE
1. I’M PRETTY
3. ZEPHYR QUEEN
5. MY LADY FAIR

Race 3 – 1:02PM TABTOUCH – BETTER YOUR BET PLATE (1000 METRES)

AMARILLO ROSE was one of WA’s better 2YOs last season and if she brings her A-game to this first-up assignment she can get the job done. Has been sharpened up with two quality Lark Hill barrier trials, and with a clean getaway she really should find the rail in front and give these something to catch. Hard not to have been impressed with the 29/7 trial win from MASSIMO and he looks a major player. Maps to land in a sweet spot also. Have some time for SPACEGIRL and expect to see her flashing late first up, while well-related colt AT WAR has looked the goods in his lead-up trials.

Tips: 2-6-4-5
Suggested: 2. AMARILLO ROSE win.

2. AMARILLO ROSE
6. MASSIMO
4. SPACEGIRL
5. AT WAR

Race 4 – 1:42PM BERNARD COUCH MEMORIAL HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

Found it hard to split Gangemi Racing stablemates SHINJU and THE NINTH HOUR, eventually locking in Shinju on top due to the low draw and likely forward running position. The eastern-states import ran into a smart one in Essential Spice this track/distance last time and the form out of his good first-up effort stacks up also. Gets his chance. The Ninth Hour has been patiently handled and should be ready to fire fresh. Maps back but has the closing speed to make things interesting. FATHER KNICK can give this a shake after enduring a hard run last time, while METRO BOY hasn’t done a lot wrong.

Tips: 9-2-5-4
Suggested: 9. SHINJU win.

9. SHINJU
2. FATHER KNICK
5. METRO BOY
4. IMPERIAL VENUS

Race 5 – 2:22PM PRIVE FASHION PLATFORM HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

Not a bad third-up option for FAIRVIEW. Have really liked her two runs this prep, drifting back and clocking particularly sharp late sections, including the fastest last 400 and 200 of the day last start. Can settle a touch closer from the low draw and with clear galloping room she’ll let down strong. Hard to fault MOSCHARD, who almost knocked off the highly-rated Free Trade last time. Gate one is a query, but if the gaps appear he’ll be launching. TURBO POWER was dominant at Kalgoorlie last time, LITTLE FISH goes good and warrants respect fresh, while keep an eye on SPILLINOVA first up.

Tips: 6-1-7-2
Suggested: 6. FAIRVIEW each way.

6. FAIRVIEW
1. MOSCHARD
7. TURBO POWER
2. LITTLE FISH

Race 6 – 3:03PM JOHN MARTINO 90TH BIRTHDAY HANDICAP (2000 METRES)

Rather challenging race to assess and made even trickier with likely favourite and on-top selection ZARATITE the first emergency. Scratched last Saturday and saved for this, Zaratite is an emerging staying talent and while this is no doubt his toughest test, if he gets a start he’ll take some beating. HERE COMES LENNI is on the quick back up after belting his rivals last Saturday. High draw makes it tough, but his recent results suggest he can overcome. PADDY’S SHADOW was good last start and maps to advantage, while MR ALBY and EYE ART fought out the finish of a similar race last time.

Tips: 13-14-5-9
Suggested: 13. HERE COMES LENNI win.

13. HERE COMES LENNI
14. PADDY’S SHADOW
5. MR ALBY
9. EYE ART

Race 7 – 3:40PM ASCOT RACING CARNIVAL HANDICAP (1600 METRES)

Another difficult race to assess and ended up going a bit wide with JERAFT. At his best this fellow has some real weapons, and he gave the impression behind Neurological and Taxagano two back that he was on track. Didn’t appreciate being ridden upside-down last time, but with a nice smother from gate one, it wouldn’t surprise to see him give this nudge. JETOOMY is getting closer and maps to enjoy the run of the race in transit. NO SAY IN IT was super second up and can elevate further, while the big-finishing NEW AGE knows how to win and DOUBLE DIGIT claimed a similar race to this last time.

Tips: 8-9-13-4
Suggested: 8. JERAFT each way.

8. JERAFT
9. JETOOMY
13. NO SAY IN IT
4. DOUBLE DIGIT

Race 8 – 4:20PM MARK SHREEVE 50TH BIRTHDAY HANDICAP (1600 METRES)

Keen to stick with up-and-comer THE FUGAZI. Has made the most of gate one with two wins so far this prep, but it’s hard not to be taken with the way he’s stretched out late, lowering and lengthening impressively. Can tag on-pacer Fair Sonari across into a forward/mid running position and if he slots in with cover, it could be race over. SNOWCHINO will certainly have something to say about that, having given rivals a nice touch up at her last two outings. Maps to get every chance also. Big closers MAKE MINE CHAMPERS and REVEILLE have to be considered, while MOSSERATTI is a genuine exotics hope.

Tips: 6-5-14-1
Suggested: 6. THE FUGAZI win.

6. THE FUGAZI
5. SNOWCHINO
14. MAKE MINE CHAMPERS
1. REVEILLE

Race 9 – 5:00PM CROWN PERTH HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

Found it hard to look past DECEPTION GAME. Jumping from the low draw, the map and predicted genuine tempo plays right into his hands and it will pay to forgive his last run, when boxing on bravely late after everything went wrong in transit. FALSE STATEMENT has been making an impression at midweek level and he certainly deserves an opportunity in this grade. Low-flying this fellow, respect. ON THE TURPS savaged the line behind The Fugazi last start, NSW import BEAUTY KANAS really caught the eye at her WA debut, while no surprise to see sharp improvement from BLACKWOOD RIVER second up.

Tips: 7-14-10-12
Suggested: 7. FALSE STATEMENT each way.

7. FALSE STATEMENT
14. ON THE TURPS
10. BEAUTY KANAS
12. BLACKWOOD RIVER
