Race 1 – 12:39PM FREE ENTRY TO BELMONT PARK MAIDEN (1400 METRES)
Tracked GREAT WATERS closely during his initial racing campaign and expecting him to prove hard to beat first up. Was a bit stiff not to win one last prep and the Red Hot Tip formline reads very well, and with Mitchell Pateman on and a cutaway in play, Great Waters should get every chance to break through. TRADE MASTER was brave in defeat last week when three-wide no cover the entire, continuing his decent form this campaign. Should be thereabouts again. Thinking ROO can come forward second up and give this a nudge, while the Lark Hill 13/07 trial of YAMATAI suggests he’s ready to impact first up.
Suggested: 1. GREAT WATERS win.
1. GREAT WATERS
2. TRADE MASTER
Race 2 – 1:14PM PERTH RACING CLUB MEMBERSHIP HANDICAP (1300 METRES)
Anticipating a big debut performance from MISS VOODOO. A $30,000 yearling purchase in 2019, this well-related filly caught the eye with her topnotch Lark Hill 27/07 trial result, covering ground in transit and hitting the line hard late. Liked the way she covered the ground and if Miss Voodoo brings that form to raceday, she should be going close. DENIM WARS was noteworthy at trials and again on debut last Saturday week, working home well to finish only 0.7L from the second placegetter. Comes forward with race experience and should be hard to hold out, while race-experienced on-pacers CHAMPAGNE DIVA and SHOCK RESULT are obvious major players also.
Suggested: 8. MISS VOODOO each way.
8. MISS VOODOO
2. DENIM WARS
7. CHAMPAGNE DIVA
1. SHOCK RESULT
Race 3 – 1:49PM TABTOUCH BETTER YOUR BET HANDICAP (2200 METRES)
Could be the day for AMERICAN SOUL. Has been knocking on the door in similar assignments to this recently, going down narrowly at his past two, and with a patient Ryan Hill ride with the cutaway rail in play, American Soul should be able to run over the top of them late. TREAT YO SELF responded to Madi Derrick’s urgings last start, doing her best work over the final 200m. Gets a nice weight advantage over the other main fancies and shouldn’t waste any fuel in transit from the low draw. UNDER THE ARCHERS finally saluted the judge at Pinjarra 23/07 and is expected to compete well again, while ALBY’S PRIDE looks next best.
Suggested: 2. AMERICAN SOUL win.
2. AMERICAN SOUL
5. TREAT YO SELF
3. UNDER THE ARCHERS
1. ALBY’S PRIDE
Race 4 – 2:24PM ALL FLAGS SIGNS & BANNERS HANDICAP (1200 METRES)
Simply going to have to trust trainer Justine Erkelens to have class 4YO WINE NIGHT right to win. Failed inexplicably when a $4 fave in a higher grade last start and was a late scratching after a floating mishap last Wednesday, so while there are plenty of red flags, on pure talent this 4YO has her rivals covered. Maps to enjoy a lovely run and ends up getting in well after Chris Graham’s claim, so Wine Night goes on top. HE’S A GUNSLINGER was solid in his 1000m first-up run and is suited up to 1200m. Expected to lead and take some running down. LEADING MAN has been big at both outings this prep and has to be a factor, while the best of ANNIHILATOR puts him right in the finish.
Suggested: 1. WINE NIGHT win.
1. WINE NIGHT
2. HE’S A GUNSLINGER
5. LEADING MAN
Race 5 – 3:00PM AMELIA PARK HANDICAP (1200 METRES)
Looks another perfect set up for the front-running OHBEEH. Was keen on him second up last start and he was too good, leading throughout to record a comfortable Class 1 victory. Will carry the same weight rising in grade for an in-form Chloe Azzopardi and if well rated out in front, it’ll take a fair effort to get over the top of him. PURE MAGNUS is 34 days between runs, but did put in a bottler first up at Northam 2/07 and the form out of that race reads well enough. Hails from the right camp and should go close. Expecting FORK HANDLES to run a race first up, while THE ITALIAN JOB was simply too bad to be true last start.
Suggested: 1. OHBEEH win.
2. PURE MAGNUS
5. FORK HANDLES
4. THE ITALIAN JOB
Race 6 – 3:35PM BUDGET CAR & TRUCK RENTAL HANDICAP (1700 METRES)
GIANT LEAP certainly stands out. Was really keen on his chances in a hot race last Saturday week and while he didn’t quite meet expectations, he was only beaten 1.4L and those formlines are far stronger than what his opponents are bringing to the table. With William Pike suspended, Jarrad Noske should give Giant Leap every chance from this alley and the rise to 1700m should suit also. WAR CLASS caught the eye second-up in a decent contest at Pinjarra 23/07. Maps rearwards again, but the cutaway should come in handy, especially with B. Kirby on board. ARAGAIN has his her straps for her new stable, while HOOLAHOOPS will have admirers down on 52.5kg.
Suggested: 3. GIANT LEAP win.
3. GIANT LEAP
6. WAR CLASS
8. PERCEPTIVE MISS

Race 7 – 4:15PM FURPHY HANDICAP (1000 METRES)
Found this to be a tricky 1000m dash to assess and ended up playing it safe with WARBLER. Had all the favours when never leaving the rail first up this track/distance and should enjoy a similar on-speed run in transit from this draw. Competitive type and should give supporters a run for their money. While she hasn’t quite lived up to expectations this time in, SHOWZALI has been performing well in stronger races than this and has to be respected, while no surprise to see DANCE COCKEY and MING XING get back from their high draws and swoop late.
Suggested: 4. WARBLER win.
9. MING XING
3. SO SWAY

Race 8 – 4:55PM GLENROY CHAFF HANDICAP (1000 METRES)
Happy to be with WEAPONSON. Two runs back with junior riders on have been full of merit, taking on some reasonable opposition, and should appreciate senior hoop Joe Azzopardi on board. Has the gate speed to land in a suitable position from this mid draw and Weaponson takes some beating. MIA DOLCE looks really well placed back in this midweek assignment, having raced against quality all last season. Jumps-and-runs with the blinkers back on and Chloe Azzopardi should suit also. Big watch on speedy eastern-states import SUPER EX first up, an in-form SHE’S VITAL will get last crack at them, while no surprise to see MY LAINA get back and charge late first up with the cutaway in play.
Suggested: 4. WEAPONSON win.
2. MIA DOLCE
3. SUPER EX
7. SHE’S VITAL
9. MY LAINA
