Race 1 – 1:24PM FREE ENTRY TO BELMONT PARK HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

A few promising types competing in this 3YO midweeker but confident ADVANCED will salute. Beaten by the gate when attacking the line from a challenging position in run last start, and thinking the blinkers will help extract another length of two. SAFETY FUSE has enjoyed a terrific prep and did well to out-muscle subsequent winner Memorable Miss this track/distance last time. Creeping up in weight now but can still win again. KNOT SECRET is a horse with plenty of upside and he actually beat home Advanced last start. McGruddy may elect to take him to the front and control things from there, while NORTHERN RULER showed a bit last prep trialled strongly Belmont 8/11.

Tips: 1-2-3-5
Suggested: 1. ADVANCED win.

1. ADVANCED
2. SAFETY FUSE
3. KNOT SECRET
5. NORTHERN RULER
4. MOMENTIOUS

Race 2 – 1:59PM TABTOUCH BETTER YOUR BET MAIDEN (1200 METRES)

Been waiting for THE VELVET QUEEN to reemerge. This filly was brave on debut when three wide/no cover the entire and still managing third behind quality youngsters It’sarayday and The Front Bar. Hard to beat those form lines and her Lark Hill 15/11 trial win suggests she’s ready to fire first up. UNI QUEEN looks the obvious danger after some encouraging form last campaign and a strong lead-up Belmont 8/11 trial win. Maps sweetly from the low draw also. Didn’t mind the run of BELL LAP on debut when doing it tough and boxing on late, while KUTSANYA is a 6YO first starter who must’ve shown something for connections persevere this long.

Tips: 9-8-6-3
Suggested: 9. THE VELVET QUEEN win.

9. THE VELVET QUEEN
8. UNI QUEEN
6. BELL LAP
3. KUTSANYA
5. VALBANI

Race 3 – 2:35PM AMELIA PARK MAIDEN (1200 METRES)

Found this to be quite a tricky midweek maiden, with the majority of the field winning possibilities. Eventually settled on CUT THE CORD, a horse that’s been followed for a while and although the Lark Hill 15/11 trial was only okay, that should taper him off nicely for this first-up assault. Lands leader’s back from gate one and is expected to impact from there. No surprise to see HALATORION lead all the way. Latest Albany effort was better than it reads and just needs to begin cleanly from the low alley. MR FAHRENHEIT has had plenty of chances but has always looked a horse capable of winning races, as are both SEEABLE and DADIRRA.

Tips: 3-2-1-7
Suggested: 3. CUT THE CORD win.

3. CUT THE CORD
2. HALATORION
1. MR FAHRENHEIT
7. SEEABLE
8. DADIRRA

Race 4 – 3:10PM THE TABTOUCH MASTERS HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

Positive tactics with TREVERN and this fellow will be mighty hard to run down. Went within a whicker of a hat trick last start, but did get rolled by Mercanto who is a very promising type in his own right. Jumping quickly underneath Kesh Dhurun, Trevern finds the rail in front and kicks strongly. GHOST WHO WALKS was a beaten fave last start but there was plenty of merit in the performance. Gets a senior back on from gate one and he won’t be far away. SO SWAY is back in WA after a brief VIC stint and is coming off a good Belmont 8/11 trial win. East-coast import LLESSUR is a big watch first up, while MY BLUEBOY didn’t have a lot of galloping room last start.

Tips: 1-2-4-5
Suggested: 1. TREVERN win.

1. TREVERN
2. GHOST WHO WALKS
4. SO SWAY
5. LLESSUR
6. MY BLUEBOY

Race 5 – 3:50PM CROWN PERTH HANDICAP (1300 METRES)

The lightly-weighted SAFETY BAY can run them off their feet again. Has won three of her five starts this prep, including one over this track/distance, and can begin quick enough to cross those inside her and find the rail in front. Well rated by regular rider Beaux Edwards, Safety Bay can use the 53kg to make life difficult for her higher weighted dangers. ISLAND MISSILE hails from the hot Gangemi Bros yard and stormed to victory in a Belmont midweeker last start. Expected to be launching late again. SPILLINOVA is building into his prep and is a Saturday horse competing midweek, while STATE ATTORNEY looks well placed back in grade and HEART OF COEUR was super last start and can’t be dismissed.

Tips: 7-3-1-2
Suggested: 7. SAFETY BAY win.

7. SAFETY BAY
3. ISLAND MISSILE
1. SPILLINOVA
2. STATE ATTORNEY
6. HEART OF COEUR

Race 6 – 4:25PM SCHWEPPES HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

Plenty of hopes in this Class One Handicap also, but quite taken with the maiden effort of MIDNIGHT MYSTERY first up and thinking she can give this a nudge. Closed off her race with strength two weeks back after being $10 to $6.50 in betting, and maps to land closer in running from this gate. Natural on-pacer BROADWAY GIRL strips fitter after a solid first-up display and she always puts in. Lookout if she can cross to the rail in front. ENGLISH HERITAGE with Pike on looks a likely combination and the blinkers going on suggest the stable means business. JAY DEE lands leader’s back and fights out the finish, while the nicely-bred STAR OF ROSIE is coming off a decent York debut win.

Tips: 5-1-2-7
Suggested: 5. MIDNIGHT MYSTERY win.

5. MIDNIGHT MYSTERY
1. BROADWAY GIRL
2. ENGLISH HERITAGE
7. JAY DEE
9. STAR OF ROSIE

Race 7 – 5:05PM FURPHY HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

Roy Rogers isn’t messing around with his promising 3YO ACEFIRE, gunning for a second straight win at his third Belmont outing in 13 days. Sat outside leader and put them to the sword over 1200m last week and likely lands in a similar running position in this. Rated outside an even tempo Acefire can let down strongest from there. LET’S GALAHVANT landed good bets when breaking maiden status two weeks back. Lands in a lovely spot from gate one and has o be a factor. Lookout for SOVIET SPY swooping late first up, while the likes of MAGNIFICENT ANDY and HILTON will have admirers also.

Tips: 5-6-2-7
Suggested: 5. ACEFIRE win.

5. ACEFIRE
6. LET’S GALAHVANT
2. SOVIET SPY
7. MAGNIFICENT ANDY
12. HILTON

Race 8 – 5:40PM MUMM CHAMPAGNE HANDICAP (2100 METRES)

Wide open middle-distance affair and with low confidence siding with CHOOSE FREEDOM. Came on when last in work and showed he’s come further forward this prep with a slashing first-up second at Ascot 10/11. Is a winner this track/distance and a repeat of that fresh performance would see him hard to hold out. LADY DUCKWORTH is better placed in this than the York Cup last start and should be ready to fire third up. ALIMENTARIA is always a chance in these events, RED CADILLAC gets back and runs on with strength late, while likely leader PHENOMENAL ANOMALY is a Durrant-trained stayer and has to be respected.

Tips: 9-1-2-11
Suggested: 9. CHOOSE FREEDOM win.

9. CHOOSE FREEDOM
1. LADY DUCKWORTH
2. ALIMENTARIA
11. RED CADILLAC
4. PHENOMENAL ANOMALY
