Race 1 – 1:49PM FREE ENTRY TO BELMONT PARK MAIDEN (1700 METRES)

Thinking OUTBACK JACK can knock off SURVEILLANCE here. On the quick backup after a very encouraging debut result last week, Outback Jack was undone by gate nine on that occasion but Shaun McGruddy has more options bouncing from the inside alley. Set to relish the rise to 1700m and he can grind his way to victory. Surveillance will be well found after getting nailed late over the mile last Saturday week. Will take some beating. Have to respect Peters Investments first-starter SPECIAL VIEW. who was solid in his latest Lark Hill 7/09 trial outing, while IT’S A LANCE is capable of working his way into the first four.

Tips: 2-1-7-3
Suggested: 2. OUTBACK JACK win.

2. OUTBACK JACK
1. SURVEILLANCE
7. SPECIAL VIEW
3. IT’S A LANCE

Race 2 – 2:24PM QUAYCLEAN HANDICAP (1700 METRES)

Solid last-start maiden winner SHEIKH IT looks set to make it two straight. Enjoyed a lovely run in transit and stretched out well late for a soft debut victory and really should land in another perfect running position, especially with the cutaway rail in play. Stable and jockey in top form also. PRETTY FRIAR didn’t have the best of luck late in Kalgoorlie last time and her previous Northam first-up win was good. Has to be considered. Hasn’t been sighted in 27 days but natural on-pacer BURN ONE DOWN can box on into the finish, while VITAL FLIRT got the maiden win she deserved coming back to a mile at Northam last start.

Tips: 6-4-3-5
Suggested: 6. SHEIKH IT win.

6. SHEIKH IT
4. PRETTY FRIAR
3. BURN ONE DOWN
5. VITAL FLIRT

Race 3 – 2:59PM MRS MAC’S MAIDEN (1400 METRES)

Going again with MIAMI CITY. Was decent on debut and his follow-up performance was full or merit also, when traffic issues cost him finish several lengths closer to the winner. Like the booking of M Pateman and from gate one with a cutaway, Miami City should get his chance. RECITING is knocking on the door also and ran into an odds-on pop in Chiclett at Northam last time. Suited from low draw down on 53.5kg. TREASURED CROWN showed some staying potential last prep and is capable of running a race fresh for his new stable, while ENCHANTING GIRL and THERSYOURTROUBLE are top-four contenders also.

Tips: 2-11-1-7
Suggested: 2. MIAMI CITY win.

2. MIAMI CITY
11. RECITING
1. TREASURED CROWN
7. ENCHANTING GIRL

Race 4 – 3:35PM TABTOUCH BETTER YOUR BET HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

Not a bad midweek contest, but TYCOON STORM should come out on top. Thought she could overcome a sticky draw and still salute last Saturday week, and she probably should’ve, with traffic issues in the straight being the difference. Has another high draw to contend with, but Tycoon Storm does appear to have a class edge and banking on Brad Parnham to make the right moves. Liked the first-up effort from OUQBA TED and he can elevate second-up from gate one. INFLATION has been performing consistently, but just can’t seem to crack it for a win, while the best of FALSE STATEMENT puts him right in the finish also.

Tips: 5-4-6-2
Suggested: 5. TYCOON STORM win.

5. TYCOON STORM
4. OUQBA TED
6. INFLATION
2. FALSE STATEMENT

Race 5 – 4:15PM KIRIN MEGUMI HANDICAP (1300 METRES)

Found it hard to separate the top-three selections, but opted to side with FIERY WATER. Won decisively first up, with the Enduring Moment form stacking up, and starting favourite ahead of Approach last start, with that form and SP profile obviously reading well. The Durrant camp have made some gear adjustments since that defeat and a more tractable Fiery Water can come out on top back in Class One. First-upper HIP WIGGLE will win her share of races and maps sweetly from this draw. IGARASHI did it the hard way and won well last start, so has to be respected off that, while ZADOK is coming through some challenging 3YO races and can impact.

Tips: 2-6-7-8
Suggested: 2. FIERY WATER win.

2. FIERY WATER
6. HIP WIGGLE
7. IGARASHI
8. ZADOK

Race 6 – 4:55PM AMELIA PARK LODGE HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

Looks a good option for GRAND DESIGN. Comes back to midweek company after a couple of cracks at Graduation Handicap level, and from this draw with K Bennett claiming 3kg, Grand Design does look to get her chance to return to the winner’s enclosure. EUROTRIP has done nothing wrong all prep and the form around him stacks up. Hard not to like the way BOLSHOI GAL attacked the line last start and she will no doubt have her share of admirers, while the likes of SHOWZALI and ADVOCATOR will be pushing for top-four finishes also.

Tips: 2-3-8-6
Suggested: 2. GRAND DESIGN win.

2. GRAND DESIGN
3. EUROTRIP
8. BOLSHOI GAL
6. SHOWZALI
7. ADVOCATOR

Race 7 – 5:30PM ALL FLAGS SIGNS & BANNERS HANDICAP (2200 METRES)

Another slogging distance race to finish off a Belmont midweek program and expecting likely leader MARXIAN to give them something to catch. Thought he was big at Belmont 5/09 when setting a strong tempo out in front before being collared late by the lightly-weighted Sugar Cain. If Marxian can roll along and get the chasers out of their comfort zone, then he can hold them at bay late. WITHOUT REASON has promised plenty and finally delivered last start. 60.5kg is significant but his class should take him a long way. SENTIMENTAL QUEEN bolted in last start, but that was a low pressure race and this looks like a genuine staying test, while TREAT YO SELF and HIGH ENERGY are in the mix also.

Tips: 2-1-5-8
Suggested: 2. MARXIAN each way.

2. MARXIAN
1. WITHOUT REASON
5. SENTIMENTAL QUEEN
8. TREAT YO SELF
9. HIGH ENERGY
