Race 1 – 1:14PM FREE ENTRY TO BELMONT PARK MAIDEN (1300 METRES)

NOTORIOUS ONE has shown enough at trials to suggests he’s going to be hard to beat on debut. A half-brother and stablemate to smart sprinter Floyd, this fellow’s potential has been on display, but he does look like he has a lot to learn. Still, with a clean getaway with the blinkers on Jordan Turner can send Notorious One straight to the front and he can control things from there. FIRST MOMENT ran into major traffic issues last start and hot-hoop Chris Parnham going back on suits. Don’t mind HOLY ENCHANTMENT as a horse and he can certainly figure, while PERFECT HARMONY should roll forward as always and box on evenly late.

Tips: 3-8-6-4
Suggested: 3. NOTORIOUS ONE win.

8. FIRST MOMENT
6. HOLY ENCHANTMENT
4. PERFECT HARMONY

Race 2 – 1:49PM ASCOT RACING CARNIVAL MAIDEN (1300 METRES)

SOUTHSTAR put the writing on the wall at Northam 27/08 first up and will be hard to hold out in this. Was one of the runs of the day last start, coming from last for a fast-finishing second and with a similar patient ride, and with the cutaway in play, she should have enough closing speed to get over the top of them late. First-upper MIYAGI ran some good races against reasonable opposition last prep and was sharpened up for this with a 400m Lark Hill 24/08 trial. Gate one and 53.5kg are also positives. Expecting a bold debut showing from OUTBACK JACK, who has really looked the goods at trials, while a race-fit and well-drawn FIERY BAY warrants consideration also.

Tips: 4-8-7-6
Suggested: 4. SOUTHSTAR win.

8. MIYAGI
7. OUTBACK JACK
6. FIERY BAY

Race 3 – 2:24PM SEACORP HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

A bit of speed engaged in this 1000m handicap and if first-upper LORDING can hold up from gate one, he’ll take some getting past. Enjoyed some strong short-course results when last in work and the River Beau form reads well, so with 3kg claimer Laqdar Ramoly rolling out in front Lording gies this a nudge. EXPRESS TIME is the other speed horse and may even have enough early toe to cross Lording. Can still sit outside leader and make things interesting first up. SMART PRINCESS is a winner this track/distance and should tighten up nicely after her latest Northam hit-out, while a fresh DUNE MESSIAH maps well and is also a Belmont 1000m winner already.

Tips: 1-4-5-2
Suggested: 1. LORDING win.

1. LORDING
4. EXPRESS TIME
5. SMART PRINCESS
2. DUNE MESSIAH

Race 4 – 2:59PM MUMM CHAMPAGNE HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

Really like the looks of TRIPLE MISSILE and expecting him to produce the goods on debut. Gave Captain Burgler a start and a beating in his Belmont 31/08 trial win and that 3YO came out and won at Belmont last week, so the form lines up nicely. Settles rearwards from this draw, but appears to have the class and closing speed to still claim the win. First-upper NO SURRENDER showed potential as a 2YO and has been readied for this with two 400m trial hit-outs. Expected to have plenty of admirers. Liked the debut effort from CELEBRITY WITNESS and she maps to go close, while EXCERPT has to be a contender after last week’s Belmont 1200m placing.

Tips: 2-1-5-3
Suggested: 2. TRIPLE MISSILE win.

2. TRIPLE MISSILE
1. NO SURRENDER
5. CELEBRITY WITNESS
3. EXCERPT

Race 5 – 3:35PM IRON JACK HANDICAP (1700 METRES)

With no natural leader engaged, the pace of this race will be interesting, but if the in-form DIVINE QUEST can lob along with cover with transit, she really should be able to work over her rivals late. Knocked off subsequent winner Peri Peri Para two back and a second placing to Moderator reads well also, with that galloper pretty much a good thing beat on Saturday. THE CAT RATCHER was solid first up and can certainly give this a shake. No surprise to see 3kg claimer Kristy Bennett send him to the front also. CONVICTED MAN is racing really well this prep, attacking the line with strength at Northam recently, while anticipating sharp improvement from ZIP YOUR LIPS.

Tips: 4-2-1-3
Suggested: 4. DIVINE QUEST win.

4. DIVINE QUEST
2. THE CAT RATCHER
1. CONVICTED MAN
3. ZIP YOUR LIPS

Race 6 – 4:15PM SALINGER HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

Sticking with SMILE FOR ME. Felt she could get the job done over 1200m two weeks back, but ran into Native Chimes who has gone on to win again since. Looks set to enjoy a suitable passage from this draw and she’s really stretched out underneath apprentice Ramoly in recent starts. Have to respect likely leader CHOICE COMMAND, who has been freshened and has the services of an in-form Alan Kennedy. At his best, he’ll be hard to get past. Fellow on-pacer CASINO WAR is a real competitor and has to be in the mix, while UNCANNY TIMING and SHE’S GOT MERIT will have admirers also.

Tips: 6-1-4-2
Suggested: 6. SMILE FOR ME each way.

6. SMILE FOR ME
1. CHOICE COMMAND
4. CASINO WAR
2. UNCANNY TIMING

Race 7 – 4:55PM TABTOUCH BETTER YOUR BET HANDICAP (1300 METRES)

Despite the 61.5kg topweight this does looks a really sweet option for ANNIHILATOR. Backing up after last week’s second placing behind Approach, this 4YO should get things to suit from a decent alley and his best does look better than the rest. STEVIE’S WONDER has promised plenty but has teased mostly over the journey, however, this does look a reasonable assignment for him coming back from Kalgoorlie. There was plenty of merit in the BOBCAT JOHNNIE result at Northam last time, while CAERHELAN is more than capable of improving considerably third up with the blinkers going on.

Tips: 1-4-3-7
Suggested: 1. ANNIHILATOR win.

1. ANNIHILATOR
4. STEVIE’S WONDER
3. BOBCAT JOHNNIE
7. CAERHELAN

Race 8 – 5:30PM CROWN PERTH HANDICAP (2100 METRES)

Adam Durrant-trained stablemates BOLLINGER BOY and TREAT YO SELF look set to fight this one out, and narrowly siding with Bollinger Boy on top. Worked home nicely when resuming at Northam and was just about a good thing beat second-up over 1600m last Saturday week, when striking traffic issues at crucial stages. Maps to enjoy an economical run from this alley and should have enough fuel in the tank to claim victory late. Like senior hoop Joe Azzopardi going on Treat Yo Self and from an on-pace running position, she’ll take come catching down on 55kg. HIGH ENERGY, OMBUDSMAN and FRIAR’S FANTASIA can all impact if they can tap into some of their peak form.

Tips: 2-13-12-6
Suggested: 2. BOLLINGER BOY each way.

2. BOLLINGER BOY
13. TREAT YO SELF
12. HIGH ENERGY
6. OMBUDSMAN
3. FRIAR’S FANTASIA
