Race 1 – 12:39PM WESTERN RACEPIX MAIDEN (1400 METRES)

Expecting sharp improvement from MR DELEGATOR. Sent out a $1.50 fave first up at Belmont 6/06 and disappointed after leading, but the rail didn’t seem the best going on the day, so happy to forgive. Form out of that maiden has stood up well since also, so Mr Delegator gets the nod. WESTERN RHYTHM will have a heap of admirers also. Strong on debut and over-raced a touch second up, so with a more patient Pike ride she can be doing her best work late. Possible leader JONO is getting close to breaking through and must be respected, while HITCHINRAIL looks best of the rest.

Tips: 2-11-1-6
Suggested: 2. MR DELEGATOR win.

2. MR DELEGATOR
11. WESTERN RHYTHM
1. JONO
6. HITCHINRAIL

Race 2 – 1:14PM TABTOUCH BETTER YOUR BET PLATE (1400 METRES)

Happy to be siding with CONVALESCE. Showed plenty last prep and was good first up at Belmont 17/06, placing behind the smart First Law after getting held up at a crucial stage. Looks as though he’ll relish the rise to 1400m and with positive tactics from the draw, Convalesce land on top of the speed and take some beating. KALLAROO is a promising type and was big behind Reign Of Fire last start, getting too far out of his ground and running on with strength late. Maps rearwards again, but still expected to be swooping. HOLY ENCHANTMENT can elevate second up from this draw, while Pike going on THE GAFFER is noteworthy.

Tips: 2-3-6-7
Suggested: 2. CONVALESCE win.

2. CONVALESCE
3. KALLAROO
6. HOLY ENCHANTMENT
7. THE GAFFER

Race 3 – 1:49PM AMELIA PARK HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

Quite a few of these are very evenly matched, but ended up siding with PARIS REPORT first up. Came forward significantly last time in work, kicking off the prep with two smart 1100m wins and her subsequent form was solid also. The heavily rain-affected going is a query, but Paris Report maps to land in the slot and should be ready to fire fresh. Happy to forget SATURDAY SUN went around in stronger company last start and Paul Harvey back in the saddle is positive. Should give this a shake. CHATTER SESSION has the class to impact first up, while THE ITALIAN JOB has to be among the major players also.

Tips: 5-6-4-2
Suggested: 5. PARIS REPORT win.

5. PARIS REPORT
6. SATURDAY SUN
4. CHATTER SESSION
2. THE ITALIAN JOB

Race 4 – 2:24PM GLENROY CHAFF HANDICAP (1650 METRES)

The Harvey Racing yard seems to have found the key to AVALON BAY and he looks set to record a third straight win. Has always promised a bit, but is finally starting to deliver late into his 4YO season and his recent victories this track/distance have been impressive. Gets back again from the high draw and similar to last start, should be able to work around the field and hunt down the leaders late. DIVINE QUEST stands out as the main danger. Two runs back have been full of merit and she should be peaking at this stage of her campaign. BOMBAY STYLE has a heavy track victory to his name and can figure on the quick back up, while ZIP YOUR LIPS shouldn’t be too far away first up.

Tips: 1-6-4-3
Suggested: 1. AVALON BAY win.

1. AVALON BAY
6. DIVINE QUEST
4. BOMBAY STYLE
3. ZIP YOUR LIPS

Race 5 – 3:05PM THE TURF CLUB HANDICAP (1650 METRES)

Hard to look past ABERDEEN QUEEN. Is a 3YO filly taking on the older horses, but her recent form against some of the better youngsters going around has been excellent and she gives the impression she’ll enjoy stretching out to the mile. Gets an economical run from this alley and her closing speed should propel her to victory. BOLD SUCCESS was brave in defeat last start when trapped wide throughout and beaten in a photo. Has to be a major player following that effort. MODERATOR was too strong to ignore in his first-up win, while no surprise to see HIGH ENERGY figure in the finish second up.

Tips: 2-1-3-6
Suggested: 2. ABERDEEN QUEEN win.

2. ABERDEEN QUEEN
1. BOLD SUCCESS
3. MODERATOR
6. HIGH ENERGY

Race 6 – 3:40PM OLD MATE’S SPORTS BAR AND EATERY HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

So much early pace engaged in this 1000-metre dash and thinking ROSES ARE RED can camp just off the pace and launch late to make it two straight. Ran some slick sectionals to upset odds-on fave New Amsterdam at her Northam 18/06 debut and that win was strong enough to suggest she can make the leap to this grade. EXCELLENT DREAM has his share of ability and is likely to roll forward early from the high draw. Was electric first up last prep and a repeat of that would see him give this a shake. Hard to knock the recent form of MY BLUEBOY and he’s an obvious contender again, while MOORUMBINE is an interesting first-upper with the blinkers going on.

Tips: 10-1-2-4
Suggested: 10. ROSES ARE RED each way.

10. ROSES ARE RED
1. EXCELLENT DREAM
2. MY BLUEBOY
4. MOORUMBINE

Race 7 – 4:15PM PENINSULA DINING ROOM HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

Opinions will be divided, but leaning towards MIRROR MOON to knock off fellow main fancy FORGOTTEN JEWEL. Really liked the way Mirror Moon travelled in running before spanking her opposition first up at Northam 18/06 and Pike should have her well positioned from this low draw. Should plough through the rain-affected and get the job done. Forgotten Jewel is a horse with a heap of upside though and this fellow won’t be a pushover. Paul Harvey should push forward from the outside alley and take some getting past late, while JEVELATION, NATIVE CHIMES and HOTHAM VALLEY are all capable of challenging for First Four finishes.

Tips: 9-2-13-4
Suggested: 9. MIRROR MOON win.

9. MIRROR MOON
2. FORGOTTEN JEWEL
13. NATIVE CHIMES
4. HOTHAM VALLEY

Race 8 – 4:52PM FREE ENTRY TO BELMONT PARK HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

Really competitive handicap to finish up this wintry midweek card and locking in DOUBLE THE PRO on top. Was struggling to win in Kalgoorlie, but turned things around in style with a powerful Northam 18/06 win last start. Relished the soft/heavy track on that occasion and should this track will suit, and with similar patient Pateman tactics, Double The Pro can win again. THREE SECRETS looks really well placed in this grade and all the form around his first-up result stacks up. He’ll go close. FRIAR’S GIFT will be sent forward and give them something to catch, while Pike going on WANNA BE GOOD is significant and the best of ABBY LANE puts him right in the finish.

Tips: 7-8-6-12
Suggested: 7. DOUBLE THE PRO each way.

7. DOUBLE THE PRO
8. THREE SECRETS
6. WANNA BE GOOD
12. ABBY LANE
