Race 1 – 11:53AM WELCOME BACK TO THE RACES HANDICAP (2200 METRES)
Hard not to be impressed with the way FREEZ’EMOFF disposed of UTGARD LOKI last start and expecting her to repeat the dose. Freez’emoff was ridden patiently by Kyra Yuill and was simply too strong at the end of 2200m on that occasion, so put to sleep again in this small field she looks set to run right over the top late. Utgard Loki appeared to have every chance last time and may not have fully run out a testing 2200m. Still, this fellow is very smart and will take some beating. Stablemate NOIR DE RUE is having his third start in 14 days and must be considered, while TOUCH OF SILVER continues to race competitively.
Suggested: 3. FREEZ’EMOFF win.
2. UTGARD LOKI
4. NOIR DE RUE
1. TOUCH OF SILVER
Race 2 – 12:33PM TABTOUCH WESTSPEED PLATINUM MAIDEN (1200 METRES)
Pretty keen on the chances of MR DELEGATOR first up. Black-booked this fellow in trials back in January and he ran very well in a particularly hot Bunbury 4/03 maiden on debut that included talented types Cliffs Of Comfort, Giant Leap and Karijini Aurora. Thinking they’ll be keen to find the rail in front and if that happens, it should be race over. Do like the looks of trial-winning first-starter WESTERN RHYTHM and William Pike has the job of overcoming a less than ideal draw. RAPID TRANSIT was rock-solid first up in a strong maiden and must be considered, while ALIEN FROM MARS is always thereabouts.
Suggested: 3. MR DELEGATOR win.
3. MR DELEGATOR
9. WESTERN RHYTHM
1. RAPID TRANSIT

Race 3 – 1:13PM GOURMET TAKEAWAY PLATE (1200 METRES)
It might not appear so at first glance, but this is a loaded 2YO contest and is expected to develop into a strong form reference. In saying that, very happy to be on side with debutante REIGN OF FIRE, who has looked well above average at trials. Oozed class in his Belmont 26/05 heat win and maps to get the gun run in transit, so he stands out as the horse to beat. NOBELLITY led, sprinted and stretched the exciting Dunbar last start and the lead should be there for the taking again, while recent trial winners BRAGWELL, SNICKERDOODLEDANDY and PRIVATE NUMBER all look to have reasonable engines under the hood.
Suggested: 5. REIGN OF FIRE win.
5. REIGN OF FIRE
10. PRIVATE NUMBER

Race 4 – 1:53PM PERTH RACING AT HOME HANDICAP (1000 METRES)
A bit of talent and plenty of gate speed engaged in this 3YO Handicap, and most will be interested to see what LA VINA can produce. Hasn’t been sighted since a slashing Sheila Gwynne Classic performance alongside some of WA’s best racemares, but was scratched from a winnable race on Wednesday. Have to respect stable’s decision to head in this direction and while this isn’t a perfect option for her, still expecting La Vina’s class to shine through. PRIM AND PROPER was strong against the older horses first up and rates highly again, while speedsters MIA DOLCE and BOOMTASTIC will share the lead and take some running down.
Suggested: 7. LA VINA win.
7. LA VINA
2. PRIM AND PROPER
1. MIA DOLCE
Race 5 – 2:37PM RACONTEUR STAKES (1400 METRES)
This is going to worth a watch as two of WA’s best 3YOs LAVERROD and KAY CEE square off, and opting for a race-hardened Laverrod to be able to withstand Kay Cee’s finishing burst. Laverrod was awesome in making light work of Festival Miss last start, with that mare franking the form in decisive fashion last week. Will enjoy a field position advantage and it’ll take a special effort from Kay Cee to get over the top of him. Can’t wait to see the G1 Kingston Town Classic winner back in action and two lead-up trial wins have her ready to fire fresh. POWER OF ST GEORGE and PLATINUM BULLET are set to duke it out for third.
Suggested: 2. LAVERROD win.
1. KAY CEE
4. POWER OF ST GEORGE
6. PLATINUM BULLET
Race 6 – 3:10PM AMELIA PARK HANDICAP (1200 METRES)
Looks a nice option for FRED DAG. Was let up prior to his last-start 1000m effort when ridden upside-down but still boxing on bravely to be beaten only 0.5L. Plenty of merit in that and with a more patient steer from regular rider Jason Whiting, Fred Dag has the jets to get it done. MASSIMO was similarly courageous last start when working outside leader on a genuine tempo and getting nailed late. Maps to breeze again which may leave him vulnerable late. BLACK DUCATI was her own worst enemy when truck-loaded last start, but if she keeps her head will be mighty hard to beat, while SIR MAMBO was simply massive behind rising star Showmanship last time.
Suggested: 2. FRED DAG each way.
2. FRED DAG
8. BLACK DUCATI
5. SIR MAMBO
Race 7 – 3:40PM CROWN PERTH HANDICAP (1000 METRES)
Gifted 3YO SON OF A GOD may be lacking in experience, but does appear to have a definite class edge on these. Good to see him stay in WA, despite big offers from Hong Kong, and some of his results prior to a let up were outstanding, so he’ll no doubt be a raging hot favourite and if he turns up he just wins. STATE ATTORNEY has been enjoying being limited to these 1000m races and should appreciate a return to Belmont. Saved up for one run, he can make things interesting. As can WANNA BE GOOD, although they both tend to lack a knockout blow, while sharp 3YO WE’VE GOT DREAMS will attack and give them something to chase.
Suggested: 4. SON OF A GOD win.
4. SON OF A GOD
5. STATE ATTORNEY
7. WANNA BE GOOD
9. WE’VE GOT DREAMS
Race 8 – 4:15PM HEINEKEN 3 HANDICAP (1400 METRES)
Mouth-watering clash between two of WA’s most exciting talents SHOWMANSHIP and RESORTMAN, and while a dead-heat would be a fitting result, do think Showmanship will come out on top. Let rip with a powerful display of closing speed to win first up and did do a few things wrong, so the lugging bit and winkers should do the trick. Maps sweetly from this alley, with Pike conscious of staying within striking distance, and expecting Showmanship to pounce late. Resortman looks well-and-truly up to the challenge though and plenty of good judges are confident he can remain unbeaten, while the best MOSCHARD and MEGAZONE would see them finish first four.
Suggested: 10. SHOWMANSHIP win.
Race 9 – 4:47PM SCHWEPPES HANDICAP (1300 METRES)
Eagerly awaiting the return of the unbeaten WESTERN PRIDE. Was going to start favourite in last year’s Belmont Guineas before going amiss and her two trials for new trainer Adam Durrant suggest she’s ready to impact despite the lengthy layoff. Such a smooth mover and if she steps well and lands midfield or better, she’s going to be too strong for these. TRUTIARA has really turned the corner recently, as has the Lindsey Smith stable in general. This mare maps well and can measure up. If ZEPHYR QUEEN finds the rail in front she’ll take some catching, while NO APOLOGY and THREE SECRETS are good enough, but have tricky draws to contend with.
Suggested: 10. WESTERN PRIDE win.
10. WESTERN PRIDE
2. ZEPHYR QUEEN
13. NO APOLOGY
4. THREE SECRETS
