Race 1 – 11:58AM TABTOUCH WESTSPEED PLATINUM HANDICAP (1000 METRES)
Nice first-up option for POSITION OF POWER. Progressed well when last in work, recording Belmont and Ascot wins, and held his own against some reasonable opposition. Like the way he stretched out in his Lark Hill 18/05 trial, should be unbeaten at the Belmont 1000m and maps to advantage from this alley. TAJMALI comes to town with excellent Kalgoorlie form and she must be respected with Pike in the saddle. LEICA JAGUAR hasn’t done a lot wrong this prep and he’s really been finishing off his races his strength, while CUBALLING wins at his best, but the interrupted prep is a concern.
Suggested: 1. POSITION OF POWER win.
1. POSITION OF POWER
5. LEICA JAGUAR
Race 2 – 12:37PM PERTH RACING AT HOME HANDICAP (1000 METRES)
CONDOR HEROES is coming off a setback, but backing in Gangemi Racing to have him ready. Been a revelation since arriving in WA, with two front-running wins to his name, and was a short-priced commodity prior to being scratched with a hoof abscess at Ascot 16/05. Should find the front and run them off their feet. Neville Parnham has found the key to GUNS OF NAVARONE by keeping him on the fresh side, with the 6YO in career-best form. Can’t underestimate. SUPER MAXI was doing great things back in 2018, but has hardly raced over the past 18 months. Still have to respect his best form, while the same can be said for FIRE AND RAIN.
Suggested: 3. GUNS OF NAVARONE win.
3. GUNS OF NAVARONE
1. SUPER MAXI
5. FIRE AND RAIN

Race 3 – 1:17PM GOURMET TAKEAWAY PLATE (1000 METRES)
Looks set to be a big day for the powerful Peters Investments operation with exciting type DUNBAR to get the Cerise And White on the board early. Sent out a $1.24 fave on debut and while it wasn’t the walk in the park most were expecting, he still looked poised and classy still rattling off the fastest last 200 of the day. Maps for cover from this draw and good luck holding him out late. CHANTORQUE looked the goods when breezing outside leader and saluting comfortably. Let down well and has to be respected. First-starter BORN TO RULE has been sharp in two 400m trial wins, while LONG MAY YOU RUN can elevate with race experience.
Suggested: 1. DUNBAR win.
9. BORN TO RULE
2. LONG MAY YOU RUN
Race 4 – 1:57PM AMELIA PARK HANDICAP (1200 METRES)
Few horses have created as much buzz in two starts as WINDSTORM and it’s exciting to see this potential superstar make his return to racing. Was expected to win everything last spring/summer, but was injured and sidelined following his jaw-dropping Ascot 16/10/19 performance, however, he looked the part in a smooth-moving Belmont 11/05 trial win. Looks one out of the box and should just win. INDIAN PACIFIC is a talent in his own right and he can give the fave something to catch out in front. EURASIA is a horse with some depth and can hold his own, while CAPTAIN KINK ran into a rather handy one in Resortman last start.
Suggested: 2. WINDSTORM win.
3. INDIAN PACIFIC
6. CAPTAIN KINK
Race 5 – 2:34PM GLENROY CHAFF HANDICAP (1200 METRES)
Have gone the obvious path to start the card, but thinking south-west visitor TAWNY PETE can make things interesting. A bold front-runner, Tawny Pete has been let up since making a mess of them on his home track last start, denting the clock in the process. This is toughest test he’s faced, but if right, he may simply be too fast for them over the 1200m. DOUBLE BUBBLE will have a heap of admirers considering her strong first-up win, as well as her fondness for rain-affected going. Acid test for boom 4YO MISS FROST, so we’ll find out a bit more about her, while SHERPA LASS was huge late last start and maps to advantage.
Suggested: 3. TAWNY PETE each way.
3. TAWNY PETE
4. DOUBLE BUBBLE
15. MISS FROST
10. SHERPA LASS
Race 6 – 3:10PM BYRON BAY PREMIUM LAGER HANDICAP (1600 METRES)
There’s a host of in-form contenders and happy to be on side with emerging type COSTA DEL SANTO. Blew his rivals away on a Soft 7 at Pinjarra 7/05 and was heavily backed at that venue last start, with traffic issues in the straight proved costly. Huge in defeat on that occasion and if Costa Del Santo gets the chance to unleash his closing speed, look out! Looks a really good option for TOLLMAN, mapping sweely coming back to the mile. He’s a smart customer. 3kg claimer Beaux Edwards has an affinity with PORPHYRIO, LAUFEY will have to come from near last, while KENDEL’S MEE DAD is absolutely flying in Albany.
Suggested: 5. COSTA DEL SANTO win.
5. COSTA DEL SANTO
7. KENDEL’S MEE DAD

Race 7 – 3:40PM SCHWEPPES HANDICAP (1600 METRES)
Another deep handicap to sift through, but kept coming around to SON OF BACCHUS on the quick back up. Finally stuck his head out to claim a well-deserved victory last week and confident he can rise to another level with that hit-out under his belt. Suited from the draw and will give his supporters a run for their money. FESTIVAL MISS tried her hardest to take it up to Laverrod last start and that form certainly stands out. Likes Belmont and should be strong late. No surprise to see classy mare FRIAR FOX run a race fresh, while tough on-pacers GATES OF BABYLON and LORENTINIO simply much be considered as major players.
Suggested: 14. SON OF BACCHUS each way.
14. SON OF BACCHUS
10. FESTIVAL MISS
6. FRIAR FOX
11. GATES OF BABYLON
Race 8 – 4:15PM IRON JACK-BELMONT SPRINT (1400 METRES)
Really keen on THE VELVET KING to claim a belter of a Belmont Sprint. Was enormous in defeat in the Roma Cup when forced to breeze three/four/wide wide throughout and narrowly failing to overhaul Vega Magic. Ticks plenty of boxes rising to his pet trip back to a rain-affected Belmont, and from right on top of the speed, it’s going to take something special to get over the top. ANGELIC RULER was huge in the Roma Cup and much better suited at 1400m, and expecting Perth Cup winner MISSISSIPPI DELTA to be ready to fire first up. Group 1 winning warhorse GATTING can never be underestimated, and FLIRTINI is all class.
Suggested: 8. THE VELVET KING win.
8. THE VELVET KING
13. ANGELIC RULER
11. MISSISSIPPI DELTA
Race 9 – 4:50PM CROWN TOWERS HANDICAP (2200 METRES)
Going again with PICTURE PERFECT on the quick back up. Thought it was his race last Saturday, but he was never able to build momentum on the turn and endured a chequered passage in the straight, so the effort to finish second was really good. Hoping Pike can ride him like the old-fashioned stayer he is and if put into the race at the right time, Picture Perfect should grind his way to victory. DIVINE SHADOW was career-best in defeat last week when breezing three-wide the entire and still finishing third. BRITISH BESSY is always a contender, while stablemates PETTICOAT JUNCTION and VOLKSWAGON FRANK will have admirers also.
Suggested: 6. PICTURE PERFECT win.
6. PICTURE PERFECT
1. DIVINE SHADOW
2. BRITISH BESSY
14. PETTICOAT JUNCTION
4. VOLKSWAGON FRANK
