Race 1 – 1:34PM TABTOUCH – BETTER YOUR BET HANDICAP (1200 METRES)
Anticipating a big first-up effort from SILENT ACT. Black-booked after an eye-catching June debut and looked right on top of her game with a comfortable Bunbury 11/10 trial win. Likely to settle in the back half, but has the closing speed to impact late. HIP WIGGLE just missed first up at York and Overthrone has gone on to enhance the formline since. Maps to advantage also. JOYRIZE has been a bit below expectations when taking a sit in two runs this prep, but no surprise to see her ridden for speed on this occasion, while SNIPPETY BELLE wasn’t far away on debut and can elevate second up.
Suggested: 6. SILENT ACT each way.
6. SILENT ACT
5. HIP WIGGLE
7. SNIPPETY BELLE
Race 2 – 2:14PM ASCOT RACING CARNIVAL MAIDEN (1100 METRES)
Plenty of early speed engaged and a few promising types also, so certainly an intriguing race to assess. Ended up siding with first-upper ZENAZE, having posted two encouraging results when last in work and recently gliding to a smart Belmont 14/10 trial win with the blinkers on. Big horse with a heap of upside and just needs even luck to go close. OREO was very stiff last start and really should’ve stretched subsequent Ascot winner Boomtastic. Will need some favours from the draw though. BONROCA is green but has talent, while on-pacers MY BLUEBOY and THE FULL QUID warrant consideration.
Suggested: 2. ZENAZE win.
3. MY BLUEBOY
5. THE FULL QUID
Race 3 – 2:55PM IRISH DAY HANDICAP (1200 METRES)
Hard to ignore how well BARON BOSTOCK went first up and he’s going to take some beating back in this grade. Forced back to last from barrier 14 on that occasion and was spotting the leader’s almost 10 lengths at the 400m, but closed hard and was climbing all over heels on the line. McNaught has won on him in the past and they just need some cover in transit. MEGADON is flying, but just hasn’t been able to catch a break recently. Nice ride for visiting apprentice Harry Grace. NERODIO is classy and must be respected, while WITHOUT REASON is a real talent, but may find the 1200m too short.
Suggested: 2. BARON BOSTOCK win.
2. BARON BOSTOCK

Race 4 – 3:30PM AMELIA PARK HANDICAP (1200 METRES)
TUSCAN QUEEN is highly-regarded and is the obvious horse to beat as she progresses towards spring 3YO features. The $300,000 yearling, currently a $9 chance in WA Guineas all-in markets, created a big impression with a strong debut victory last month and with a reasonable run in transit, she should find a way to win. COLOURFUL CHLOE can’t be taken lightly with her strong Graduation Handicap form this prep. Low draw helps her cause also. KISS THE BREEZE was gunned down last when resuming at Kalgoorlie and should get the right run in transit, while fellow on-pacer MINIKA is race fit and in form.
Suggested: 11. TUSCAN QUEEN win.

2. COLOURFUL CHLOE
1. KISS THE BREEZE
Race 5 – 4:05PM D’ORSOGNA HANDICAP (1400 METRES)
Plenty to work with in this midweek Class One Handicap, and anticipating sharp improvement from the gifted MAROCCHINO with blinkers on second up. Below expectations when resuming at Bunbury, but was wide throughout and seemed all at sea in the full 14-horse field. Only a 3YO, so still has plenty to learn, but the gear change and positive tactics up over 1400m should do the trick. Like VERDANDI as a horse and should’ve finished close first up in the same Bunbury 9/10 race. Follow. On-pacers VENGEANCE OF WAR and HAIL DA HINCHI will have admirers, while big watch on the smart APPARITION first up.
Suggested: 4. MAROCCHINO each way.
7. VENGEANCE OF WAR
8. HAIL DA HINCHI
Race 6 – 4:45PM MRS MAC’S HANDICAP (1800 METRES)
SENTIMENTAL GIFT will be odds on and it’s hard seeing her being denied victory here. Made the significant leap from 1400m to 2000m second up and handled it like a pro, cruising to victory in what was a good time for Maiden company. Pike should have her well positioned from the low draw and she looks to have these comfortably covered. WINIFER appears the most capable of causing the upset, ready to peak third up over 1800m. Has a strong finish and should win her share of races. Race fit duo THE BLACK WATCH and GALIBA are musts for your exotics, while PORPHYRIO should be running on.
Suggested: 4. SENTIMENTAL GIFT win.
4. SENTIMENTAL GIFT
11. THE BLACK WATCH
Race 7 – 5:20PM QUAYCLEAN HANDICAP (1600 METRES)
Nice option for EXPRESS FLIRT. Ran out of room at a crucial stage two back and was off the course the entire last time, doing a big job to finish only three lengths from the winner. Goes well for Pike and with clear galloping room from gate one, should be very hard to hold out. SUMMIT TRAIL looks well in at the weights and his two runs this prep have both been full of merit. Should be peaking. Likely leader NEXT STOP THE MOON is deep into his prep, but continues to race well, while WA Oaks placegetter MACKENZIE BROOKE has plenty of class and no surprise to see her show up fresh.
Suggested: 4. EXPRESS FLIRT each way.
4. EXPRESS FLIRT
16. SUMMIT TRAIL
6. NEXT STOP THE MOON
10. MACKENZIE BROOKE
