Race 1 – 12:42PM LANCIANO PLATE (1100 METRES)

RED CAN MAN is a nice horse in the making and has the class to salute first up. Impressed on debut when running Karrakatta Plate placegetter Miss West Coast to a half-length on debut, and stretched out stylishly to win a Belmont 6/5 trial. With even luck from a tricky gate, he looks the one to beat. MISS ELLMYA showed some depth when winning after racing three wide/no cover throughout second up. Maps to advantage from low draw and has in-form junior on board. MINI WINNIE was arguably a good thing beat last time, while SATURDAY SUN caught the eye when hitting the line on debut.

Tips: 1-7-3-5
Suggested: 1. RED CAN MAN win.

7. MISS ELLMYA
3. MINI WINNIE
5. SATURDAY SUN

Race 2 – 1:22PM TABTOUCH – BETTER YOUR BET HANDICAP (1600 METRES)

Hard race to assess and ended up rolling with LANGLEY on top. Continues to race consistently unusually-deep into his prep, and maps to enjoy a lovely run in transit from the low draw. Gets some weight relief after carrying 59kg this track/distance last time and should give supporters a run for their money. Possible leader ARNIE’S BOY is on the quick back up after an even effort against 3YOs. Suited with low weight and could show some cheek. HYPERSPACE can mix up his form, but his best is good enough to win again, while PAGAN IMAGE has plenty of class and should be steaming home late.

Tips: 3-6-9-5
Suggested: 3. LANGLEY each way.

3. LANGLEY
6. ARNIE’S BOY
9. HYPERSPACE
5. PAGAN IMAGE

Race 3 – 2:02PM CAVALIER HANDICAP (2100 METRES)

Hard to look past TOUCH OF SILVER as he searches for a fourth straight win, but the best of SALON DU CHEVAL is certainly capable of winning this. Was a good thing beat first up, but pulled hard and didn’t fire in the Diggers Cup last time, when appearing to resent racing inside runners. Tactics will be interesting, but if ridden to advantage with only 54.5kg, he can go close. Touch Of Silver cantered in last Saturday and is the obvious horse to beat. 60.5kg at first attempt over 2100m will be interesting. COME PLAY WITH ME can win at his best, while possible leader NOIR DE RUE is holding form.

Tips: 6-2-4-7
Suggested: 6. SALON DU CHEVAL win.

6. SALON DU CHEVAL
2. COME PLAY WITH ME
4. DARK MUSKET
7. SUPERIOR SMILE

Race 4 – 2:42PM AUSTRALIAN RACING HALL OF FAME HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

Cracking race for the 3YOs and a prelude towards next month’s Belmont Guineas. And brave filly FLIRTINI stands out as the horse to beat first up, having held her own against the best of her age group last spring and sizzled in her Belmont 6/5 trial. Anticipating positive tactics and if she finds the rail in front, it’s going to be very hard to get past. BLACK SABBATH is all class and has impressed with two lead-up trial wins. Should come across and race outside Flirtini. Have plenty of time for COMING AROUND and expecting him to measure up, while TRUE ATTRACTION will be strong late.

Tips: 2-1-4-5
Suggested: 2. FLIRTINI win.

2. FLIRTINI
1. BLACK SABBATH
4. COMING AROUND
5. TRUE ATTRACTION

Race 5 – 3:15PM LA CUCINA HANDICAP (1500 METRES)

Expecting REBEL KNIGHT to rebound. Was all the rage as a $1.80 fave last time, but after being ridden a touch closer than usual was rolled late by the big-finishing Make Mine Champers. The run was still full of merit considering the 6kg swing, and with a more patient ride he can unleash late and swoop over the top. PATRISTIC is an emerging on-pacer who was a moral beaten in lower grade last time. Drops 5kg and with positive tactics, should go close. SOPHIE’S SONG is on the quick back up and maps ideally, while possible leader MRS BROWN’S BOY looks be ready to peak at his fourth run in.

Tips: 9-14-13-2
Suggested: 9. REBEL KNIGHT win.

9. REBEL KNIGHT
14. PATRISTIC
13. SOPHIE’S SONG
2. MRS BROWN’S BOY

Race 6 – 3:50PM PERTH GLORY HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

Interesting contest and going to side with Victorian import PREVAILING WINDS first up for his new stable. The former D.K. Weir-trained 4YO comes west with some strong formlines and looked strong when comfortable winning a Belmont 6/5 trial. Has the gate speed to maximise his low draw, should get his chance. LEADING GIRL is a quality type having not started since the G3 Champion Fillies Stakes last Nov. Two lead-up trials have been eye-catching, but bar plates going on is an obvious query. DON’T FUSS looks very well placed on the quick back up, while FREE TRADE goes good and warrants respect.

Tips: 4-9-1-8
Suggested: 4. PREVAILING WINDS each way.

4. PREVAILING WINDS
9. LEADING GIRL
1. DON’T FUSS
8. FREE TRADE

Race 7 – 4:20PM D’ORSOGNA FAMILY-ROMA CUP (1200 METRES)

GALAXY STAR is one of the best and most versatile horses in the country, and simply has to the one to beat. The G1 Railway Stakes winner was spelled after a G2 Cox Stakes victory last Dec, but was doing her best work late in a Belmont 6/5 trial. Clearly vulnerable over the 1200m, but with even luck she just wins. Outstanding 9YO ROCK MAGIC completed his comeback from injury with a G3 Northam Stakes win. Chasing a third-straight Roma Cup triumph and is the obvious danger. GREAT SHOT is a G1 winning warhorse who can never be taken lightly, while emerging talent VITAL SILVER faces an acid test.

Tips: 8-1-2-7
Suggested: 8. GALAXY STAR win.

8. GALAXY STAR
1. ROCK MAGIC
2. GREAT SHOT
7. VITAL SILVER

Race 8 – 4:50PM FREE ENTRY TO BELMONT PARK HANDICAP (1100 METRES)

Rising star DANCE MUSIC is the obvious and should continue on her winning way. Apprentice Chloe Azzopardi has piloted her to two comparably-fast 1200m victories this prep, and should roll forward again to land outside likely leader Mervyn. Controls the race from there and will take something special to run her down. Have a lot of time for STAGEMAN and expecting him to be charging late first up. Will be giving Dance Music a decent head start though. FLOYD has a good record and flies first up, so has to be respected, while big-finishing pair MY DEMI and HOBOKEN are race fit and in form.

Tips: 9-1-12-8
Suggested: 9. STAGEMAN win.

9. STAGEMAN
1. FLOYD
12. MY DEMI
8. HOBOKEN
