Race 1 – 12:59PM TABTOUCH BETTER YOUR BET PLATE (1100 METRES)
Really taken with the debut effort of QUEEN BROWN and she’s going to take some beating in this. Made the smart Dom To Shoot sweat late, coming from off-pace and wide on straightening to close to within a long neck on the line. That form really stacks up. JUSTHANDY will have plenty of admirers though coming off her Supremacy Stakes performance, and deservedly so. Expecting positive tactics from the draw also. Hard not to not the fast-finish from AMERICAN GRIN on debut, clocking the fastest last 200 and 400 splits of the day, while REBEL TAIL maps well and should be thereabouts.
Suggested: 4. QUEEN BROWN win.
4. QUEEN BROWN
1. AMERICAN GRIN
5. REBEL TAIL
Race 2 – 1:34PM ALL FLAGS SIGNS & BANNERS HANDICAP (1000 METRES)
Pretty keen on AT WAR first up. Ran into a very smart one in Massimo on debut at Belmont last August and showed he was ready to fire fresh with a strong Belmont 16/03 trial win. Has the gate speed to stay in touch with fast filly TIME TO SIZZLE and the strength to get over the top of her late. The front-running Time To Sizzle is on the lookout for a hat-trick of Ascot wins and she’ll take some catching on a day expected to suit leaders. SEMIGEL was huge in defeat last Wednesday and maps sweetly from gate one, while the consistent PURE DYNAMITE has to be a top-four contender.
Suggested: 4. AT WAR win.
4. AT WAR
1. TIME TO SIZZLE
5. PURE DYNAMITE
Race 3 – 2:09PM WESTERN RACEPIX MAIDEN (1000 METRES)
Found this a difficult race to assess and ended up rolling with DASH TO VICTORY on debut. A $110,000 yearling purchase, this fellow found the front and drew clear late for a smart Belmont 16/03 trial win. There is a bit of speed engaged, but if he doesn’t lead, he should get a suitable run right on top of the pace from this draw. IMPERIALISM pinged the lids and almost pinched a similar event on debut two weeks back. Pike on is a bonus and he has to rate highly. SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK has really looked the goods at trials but draw does hinder, while ALIEN FROM MARS will be swooping late.
Suggested: 6. DASH TO VICTORY each way.
6. DASH TO VICTORY
3. SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK
9. ALIEN FROM MARS
Race 4 – 2:44PM AMELIA PARK HANDICAP (1000 METRES)
Promising customer SON OF A GOD is the obvious and should be recording a third straight win. Looked in trouble on a few occasions last Wednesday, but ‘The Wizard’ Pike got out of a jam, and this fellow showed his versatility to come from midfield and still win. Taking on some tougher opposition, but confident he’ll measure up. No surprise to see LIL’ RED BIKINI run a race first up. Mapping her to find the rail in front and if right, she can give a good kick. SMART FOX was better second up and can come forward again, back to his preferred 1000m, while class runner DAISHIO warrants respect.
Suggested: 3. SON OF A GOD win.
3. SON OF A GOD
6. LIL’ RED BIKINI
2. SMART FOX
Race 5 – 3:15PM DEVIL’S LAIR HANDICAP (1600 METRES)
He can mix up his form, but when on song COCKY DODD goes pretty good and should give this a shake. Showed what he is capable of at Pinjarra 12/03 with a very strong win over 1500m, and while he does rise to 61kg under the adjusted weight scale, he should be able to hold up in front from this low draw and take some running down. Have plenty of time for OUR IDYLL and expecting her to come forward off her fresh 1400m effort last start. Can make things interesting late. NORDIC KING caught the eye first up and maps rails-in-run with Pike on, while DIPARA and BURNING MAGIC are both in the mix also.
Suggested: 1. COCKY DODD win.
1. COCKY DODD
4. OUR IDYLL
2. NORDIC KING
Race 6 – 3:50PM GLENROY CHAFF HANDICAP (1600 METRES)
Interesting to see William Pike on board THAT’S FUNNY AZ ahead of COME RIGHT BACK and happy to take The Wizard’s lead by locking in That’s Funny Az on top. The front-running 3YO has a lot to learn still, but certainly has his share of talent, evident by his recent back-to-back Bunbury victories. If allowed to roll along out in front it will take a fair effort to get past him late. Come Right Back is another promising 3YO on-pacer, who was only a nose away from three straight wins this prep. Respect. The best of VINTAGE STOCK puts her in the finish, while OMBUDSMAN can impact fresh.
Suggested: 5. THAT’S FUNNY AZ win.
5. THAT’S FUNNY AZ
4. VINTAGE STOCK

Race 7 – 4:27PM LITTLE CREATURES HANDICAP (1400 METRES)
Hard to go against 3YO filly BERET. There has always been a bit of a spruik around about her and she gave a glimpse of her real talent when a very strong second-up Bunbury maiden win last start. The 27 days between runs isn’t ideal, but Durrant and Pike certainly help, and she should still have these covered. THE HONEYMAN with Paul Harvey back on board looks the biggest danger though. With positive tactics from The Pontiff he could make things interesting for Beret. Lookout for ENSIGN PULVER running home with strength, while LADY NOBEL maps soft from gate one and should get her chance.
Suggested: 6. BERET win.
3. THE HONEYMAN
2. ENSIGN PULVER
9. LADY NOBEL
Race 8 – 5:07PM PIMM’S HANDICAP (1400 METRES)
Happy to side it NEXT STOP THE MOON on top. Led fast when kicking off his campaign over 1200m last start and was only swamped late, and that run should bring him forward nicely for this assignment. Looks the likely leader again and will take some catching. RESISTANCE got the win she thoroughly deserved at Pinjarra last time. Absolutely flying this prep and simply has to be respected. VIC import CONFLUENCE is an interesting runner and his form stacks up, BROCKHOFF drops significantly in grade, while stablemates GREY ENIGMA and I’M ICEY are both quaddie and first four inclusions.
Suggested: 4. NEXT STOP THE MOON each way.
4. NEXT STOP THE MOON
5. GREY ENIGMA
11. I’M ICEY
