Race 1 – 11:54AM TABTOUCH BETTER YOUR BET HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

Looking forward to this 3YO contest, especially to see how potential star SHEZA CHALMER returns from a break. Made a major impression when last in work and looked in terrific order when finishing fast in a Belmont 15/03 trial. Is coming off a reported minor setback, but trainer Bernie Miller doesn’t take chances with his horses and expecting to see Sheza Chalmer ready to fire fresh. Have some time for FIRST LAW also and he has some terrific formlines under his belt. Trialled up nicely at Lark Hill 6/04 and has William Pike on, so stable mean business first up. DARK ASSAULT has race-fitness on his side and did it tough winning at Albany last start, while SON SON is a talent but 1200m looks a bit short of his ideal distance.

Tips: 4-3-1-2
Suggested: 4. SHEZA CHALMER win.

4. SHEZA CHALMER
3. FIRST LAW
1. DARK ASSAULT
2. SON SON

Race 2 – 12:34PM AMELIA PARK LODGE MAIDEN (1100 METRES)

This juvenile contest is certainly up for grabs and ended up siding with possible leader WRITTEN EXCEED on debut, Was scratched from a Saturday race in preference to this and this option makes a lot more sense, especially the 1100m from a low draw. With a clean getaway from a low draw Brad Rawiller should have Written Exceed well positioned on top of the speed and should impact from there. First-upper ROMMEL’S COMMAND has trialled twice in the lead up to this assignment and looks capable of winning races. ELECTRIC ROSE was a bit disappointing last start but the stable is pushing on with her, so happy to forgive, while the likes of NORTHERN RULER and WISE WORDS have trialled well enough recently to be considered.

Tips: 7-2-8-5
Suggested: 7. WRITTEN EXCEED each way.

7. WRITTEN EXCEED
2. ROMMEL’S COMMAND
8. ELECTRIC ROSE
5. NORTHERN RULER

Race 3 – 1:14PM CROWN PERTH MAIDEN (1600 METRES)

Is this the day for POWERFUL FORCE? Has had plenty of chances to break through already, but this does look the most winnable assignment he’s encountered, and if he brings the form that saw him run Allmamoney to a length last start then Powerful Force should be saluting. Like the way PICCOLA SIGNORA finished off last start and 53.5kg suits, but she will have to do it from the back half again. CORALITA competed well against some reasonable types on debut and a mid-prep Belmont 12/04 trial was solid, while the likes of RENEGADE RULER and GEE FORCE will have admirers also.

Tips: 3-9-10-6
Suggested: 3. POWERFUL FORCE win.

3. POWERFUL FORCE
9. PICCOLA SIGNORA
10. CORALITA
6. RENEGADE RULER
5. GEE FORCE

Race 4 – 1:49PM EVENTS AT ASCOT HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

Expecting SUNNYSILK to give this a nudge first up. Hasn’t done a lot wrong in her seven trips to the races as a two and three-year-old and all the form around her stacks up, so from a low draw with Pike on and the cutaway in play, Sunnysilk should get her chance. NURHACI is coming off a strong all-the-way first-up win and the Just A Pinch formline certainly reads well. Rolls forward and takes some beating again. ISLAND CHARM has been racing in better events than this in 2021 but likely settles rearwards, while first-upper SMART PRINCESS is a 1000m specialist and has been sharpened up for this fresh assignment with two lead-up barrier trials.

Tips: 4-3-7-1
Suggested: 4. SUNNYSILK win.

4. SUNNYSILK
3. ISLAND CHARM
7. SMART PRINCESS
1. NOBLE REFLECTION

Race 5 – 2:24PM FURPHY HANDICAP (1800 METRES)

Anything could win this without surprising but have to side with the Pike-piloted TREAT YO SELF on top. Showed some staying potential when last in work and put in a very encouraging first-up effort at Bunbury 7/04, pushing the in-form Chief Archer. This isn’t a strong Class 3 Handicap and taking up a forward position in transit, Treat Yo Self should be able to out-last them late. RECITING had a crack at the WA Oaks and was far from disgraced. Comes back to a more suitable assignment and has to rate highly. REVEUSE is always thereabouts but struggles to cross the line in front, while ARTIE’S JEWELS has caught the eye a couple of times recently and could be a possible blowout.

Tips: 3-5-8-7
Suggested: 3. TREAT YO SELF win.

3. TREAT YO SELF
5. RECITING
8. REVEUSE
7. ARTIE’S JEWELS

Race 6 – 2:59PM WESTERN RACEPIX HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

TRADEM’ IN should be able to give this a shake. Trialled twice prior to a solid first-up effort at Bunbury 7/04 when running on well in one of the faster races on a rain-affected day. Comes forward off that, cutaway helps with the low draw and Tradem’ In looks well placed. SCORPION STORMZ made the most of the cutaway to crack it for a win at Bunbury 7/04. No Chris Parnham, but he still has to be a factor. William Pike has opted to ride first-upper BLACK LIGHTNING and this mare’s two recent trials suggests she’s a major player, while NEW AMSTERDAM settles mid/back and can make things interesting late fresh.

Tips: 3-2-6-4
Suggested: 3. TRADEM’ IN win.

3. TRADEM’ IN
2. SCORPION STORMZ
6. BLACK LIGHTNING
4. NEW AMSTERDAM

Race 7 – 3:39PM MUMM CHAMPAGNE HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

Will “The Wizard” be the key to getting MICHELLE MA BELLE back in winning form? Plenty of merit in her last two on-speed efforts with a junior rider on board, but connections have opted for the polish of Pike and if this mare can find a reasonable on-pace running position in transit then she should take some beating. The lightly-weighted PARIS GIRL has to be considered after her strong first-up showing and the cutaway brings her further into contention. CAPTAIN BURGLAR is well placed back in this grade, while the same can be said for fellow 3YO GIANCANA and REGUARDLESS is an interesting runner first up for a new stable.

Tips: 6-8-1-3
Suggested: 6. MICHELLE MA BELLE each way.

6. MICHELLE MA BELLE
8. PARIS GIRL
1. CAPTAIN BURGLAR
3. GIANCANA
5. REGUARDLESS

Race 8 – 4:16PM SCHWEPPES HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

With the Gangemi Racing stable back in form their promising 3YO MERCANTO should keep the winners ticking over in this midweek assignment. Attacked the line with strength behind the smart Iseered Iseered first up and looks capable of elevating further. Maps soft from a low draw, the cutaway rail helps with traffic issues and Ramoly’s 2kg claim makes sense also. First-upper PRIZE PURSUIT is no slouch though and is expected to provide stiff opposition. Looks set to win plenty of races. BEAU ZOOM was too bad to be true last start so backing in the Parnham yard to have him ready to compete at this level, while CONTESSA MEDICI and BLAZING PASSION are among the other top-four hopefuls.

Tips: 3-4-1-6
Suggested: 3. MERCANTO win.

3. MERCANTO
4. PRIZE PURSUIT
1. BEAU ZOOM
6. CONTESSA MEDICI
7. BLAZING PASSION

Race 9 – 4:54PM FLYING COLOURS RESTAURANT HANDICAP (1500 METRES)

Suitable option for natural on-pacer LORD LONSDALE. Didn’t get a lot of luck when wide throughout first up over 1200m, but this looks a better race for him rising to 1500m. Should slide forward with William Pike on board and land outside leader (CAROLINA REAPER perhaps) and Lord Lonsdale is capable of controlling the race from there. WORTH A RISK is the obvious main danger at her first start in 51 days. Rarely runs a bad race and gets every chance from this low draw. CHASING CHAOS is racing so well in the Great Southern so no surprise to see him show up at odds in this grade, while GREAT CHARADE and HEART OF COEUR are in the mix also.

Tips: 1-9-5-6
Suggested: 1. LORD LONSDALE win.

1. LORD LONSDALE
9. CHASING CHAOS
5. GREAT CHARADE
6. HEART OF COEUR
