Race 1 – 2:39PM WESTERN RACEPIX MAIDEN (1000 METRES)
Don’t mind the looks of EXCELESTIAL first up. Tracked this filly closely when last in work and her form around the likes of Laverrod, Special Choice and Mia Dolce reads very well. Wasn’t fully tested in her lead-up trial and with a patient ride, and a three-wide line cart into the race, she can charge her way into the finish. MELODY’S SECRET looks to have the gate speed to hold the lead from gate one and her recent trial wins suggests she’s ready to make an impact fresh. REAL BEAUTY strips fitter and does her best work late, while NOT MY FIGHT showed enough last prep to warrant consideration.
Suggested: 7. EXCELESTIAL each way.
10. MELODY’S SECRET
9. REAL BEAUTY
8. NOT MY FIGHT
Race 2 – 3:14PM MIDWEEK TWILIGHT RACING HANDICAP (1100 METRES)
Will be her first outing in 55 days, but still expecting tough on-pacer CASINO WAR to take some beating. Yet to miss a place in five outings to date did enough to hold out Goku in her last-start maiden win, with that form hold up well enough. Likes to roll and if ridden to advantage, should prove hard to catch. Looks a nice third-up option for UNIVERSAL APPEAL with Pike back on board. With cover in transit, she has the closing speed to make things interesting. LADIES OF LONDON hasn’t done a lot wrong all prep and will have admirers, while SEMIGEL would win this at his best.
Suggested: 3. CASINO WAR win.

6. UNIVERSAL APPEAL
2. LADIES OF LONDON
Race 3 – 3:45PM TABTOUCH BETTER YOUR BET HANDICAP (1800 METRES)
KELLY’S GEM stands out. Produced a slashing first-up return from injury at Pinjarra and it was too hard to make ground when a beaten $3.40 fave up in grade last start. Well placed back in class, up to the 1800m, and the conditions on the day are expected to suit her get back/run on style. STREET FAIR is being stretched out in trip after an eye-catching mile effort two weeks back. Another who’ll be settling rearwards and swooping late. UNENDING encountered traffic issues and had genuine excuses last time, so expecting her to rebound, while natural on-pacer AVA EXPRESS is racing consistently.
Suggested: 2. KELLY’S GEM win.
2. KELLY’S GEM
4. STREET FAIR
3. AVA EXPRESS
Race 4 – 4:15PM PIMM’S HANDICAP (1100 METRES)
Decent line up of 3YOs, who are all displaying potential, but happy to be siding with PARIS REPORT. Was keen on her fresh at Bunbury 27/01 and didn’t let supporters down, enjoying a lovely run in transit and cashing in with a comfortable victory. Has the gate speed to land in a similar ‘one/one’ running position and will be hard to counter from there. NATIVE CHIMES was undone in a walk-and-sprint first up at Bunbury, but the effort was certainly there. Pike going on is significant, will be attacking the line late. SNIPPY MISS was stiff last start, while the same can be said for GOODBYEFEDS.
Suggested: 6. PARIS REPORT win.
6. PARIS REPORT
8. NATIVE CHIMES
1. SNIPPY MISS

Race 5 – 4:45PM GLENROY CHAFF HANDICAP (1600 METRES)
Another intriguing contest for the 3YOs and it looks like promising fillies QUEEN TAKES KING and DARK MISSION are set to fight this one out. Going to give the nod narrowly to Queen Takes King after her very smart debut Bunbury win and anticipating an enhanced effort following that raceday experience. Maps to advantage from this draw and rolling into the straight with momentum, she’s going to be hard to take down. Dark Mission is getting better with every start, but interested to see how the low draw plays out. Could prove problematic, while EURASIA and SAMANTHA’S TWITCH round out the top four.
Suggested: 5. QUEEN TAKES KING win.
5. QUEEN TAKES KING
4. DARK MISSION
3. SAMANTHA’S TWITCH
Race 6 – 5:15PM DEVIL’S LAIR HANDICAP (1200 METRES)
STAR GLITTER is hard to catch, but if he’s going to win one, this looks his race. Has actually been flying in four runs this prep, running some ripping races at Ratings 72+ level, and brings excellent formlines to this. Should land in a suitable running position from this draw and with even luck, he’ll be going close. VIC import ROADRAGER is promising and has been freshened since his last-start Bunbury win. Maps soft from gate one with Pike on, so will have admirers. AY TEE EMM is humming this prep, but junior rider on is a slight query, while CITY CIRCLE and NORTHERN RIVER make appeal also.
Suggested: 6. STAR GLITTER each way.
6. STAR GLITTER
1. AY TEE EMM
5. CITY CIRCLE
3. NORTHERN RIVER
Race 7 – 5:45PM BYRON BAY PREMIUM LAGER HANDICAP (1200 METRES)
If CAERHELAN can bring her A-game to the track, she can get the job done. Showed plenty as a 3YO and all the form around her stacks up, and produced a sharp first-up effort on her home track, with some of the best closing splits of the day. 35 days between runs isn’t ideal, but if right this mare will be right there. ALTANI is the obvious, with form and race-fitness on her side. Tiarnna Robertson stable dominating at present also. Likely leader SOY TAN RAPIDO will be harder second up and takes some catching, while fellow on-pacer MORE ACES is a major player also.
Suggested: 9. CAERHELAN win.
4. SOY TAN RAPIDO
1. MORE ACES
Race 8 – 6:15PM AUTUMN ASCOT RACING CARNIVAL HANDICAP (1500 METRES)
No surprise to see CAMBIST can give this a nudge. Won here when kicking off her 3YO campaign back in October, before really good efforts in both the Burgess Queen Stakes and Champion Fillies Stakes, when she should’ve finished closer on both occasions. Liked her Belmont 3/02 trial effort and while 1500m fresh isn’t ideal, she still has the class to overcome. STAADEN impressed with a big Geraldton maiden win and ticks plenty of boxes from this nice draw. Hard to beat. GREAT CHARADE is racing really well since being gelded, while SOWAR and CELTIC DIVA have to be considered also.
Suggested: 12. CAMBIST each way.
9. CELTIC DIVA
