Race 1 – 11:33AM RUN AND EAT A KEBAB HANDICAP (1000 METRES)
Expecting ACROMANTULA to make a winning start to his career. The Written Tycoon colt is undefeated in three barrier trials, showing good gate speed on each occasion, and with a clean getaway he should be able to lead this field from gate one. Looks to have some class about him. GIANCANA is coming off a decisive Northam 15/10 maiden victory and looks capable of winning again. Drifts back, gains cover and will be charging late. JUST A PINCH returns from a let up and has form around some quality types, while FISH HOOK made the most of favourable conditions to score a slick maiden win at Northam last Sunday.
Suggested: 1. ACROMANTULA win.
2. JUST A PINCH
3. FISH HOOK
Race 2 – 12:44PM AMELIA PARK MAIDEN (1200 METRES)
The Peters Investments operation look like having a big day and FASHION QUEEN can get them off to a fast start. Has been really well educated at trials and her two this time in have been particularly eye-catching, showing some class late in her Lark Hill 19/10 heat win. Chris Parnham has opted to ride and stalking the leaders from a low draw, Fashion Queen’s going to take some beating. Really liked what JEDI MIND has produced at trials, but the gap between his latest Lark Hill 21/09 outing is a query. Still expected to impact on debut. Fashion Queen’s stablemate TREASURED PRIZE has shown promise at trials also and can’t be taken lightly, while no surprise to see ICARIAN finish top four first up.
Suggested: 9. FASHION QUEEN win.
9. FASHION QUEEN
7. JEDI MIND
10. TREASURED PRIZE
Race 3 – 1:28PM MRS MAC’S MAIDEN (1200 METRES)
Locking in another Cerise And White first starter in the form of TESTING LOVE. This half-sister to $1 million earner Disposition has improved nicely at each trial outing and it was impressive to see her coast to the line ears pricked in her Lark Hill 19/10 heat win. Will be getting back from this draw, so the map in’t ideal, but tracking up to be within striking distance on straightening, Testing Love can overhaul them late. NO SURRENDER ran into the promising Chiclett last start and that form read well. If he finds the rail in front, he’ll take some catching. AT WAR was a big run last start and has to be in the mix, while SPEED DREAM caught the eye at trials and can run a race on debut.
Suggested: 10. TESTING LOVE win.
10. TESTING LOVE
4. NO SURRENDER
1. AT WAR
5. SPEED DREAM
Race 4 – 2:04PM CROWN PERTH HANDICAP (1800 METRES)
Going again with PASARAN. Thought he was one of the better plays of the day second up at Ascot 21/10 and he was a bit stiff not to get the cash, with a perfect steer from Brad Parnham aboard HIP WIGGLE proving the difference. Kyra Yuill hops on for the first time and if she can can handle this fellow patiently early, Pasaran should have plenty to give when swooping late. Hip Wiggle is the obvious and looks set to enjoy a sweet run in transit from this low draw. Dual-acceptor (Ascot 31/10) LORD LONSDALE rise 400m 28 days after a first-up maiden win, but looks to have some ability, while RUBY JEAN is building towards a peak performance third up.
Suggested: 4. PASARAN win.
5. HIP WIGGLE
6. LORD LONSDALE
7. RUBY JEAN
Race 5 – 2:39PM TABTOUCH – BETTER YOUR BET HANDICAP (1500 METRES)
Reckon BEFFUNJAR is just about ready. Hasn’t quite hit her straps in four runs as a 4YO, but does look well placed coming back in grade after competing in Saturday ratings races recently. Wasn’t far away in a fast 1400m event last Saturday week and expecting her to give this a shake. MISS ZEDEL made an impression in Geraldton last season and put in a terrific effort at her first start for the Adam Durrant stable two weeks back. Comes forward off that ans maps more suitably from this better draw. SAKARYA had some excuses last start and should be close to peaking third up, while IGARASHI continues to race consistently and gets her chance from another low draw.
Suggested: 4. BEFFUNJAR win.
9. MISS ZEDEL
Race 6 – 3:15PM SEPPELT WINES HANDICAP (1100 METRES)
BEAU ZOOM looks set to make it two from two in the West. Was hammered in betting first up and justified the support with a dominant victory after racing up outside leader in transit. Rolls forward again to find a similar on-pace running position and the way he lengthened last start suggests he’s going to win plenty of races. HE’S ALL MIGHTY was a good thing beat second up at Geraldton and looks a winning chance in this with the senior rider going on. Expected more from likely leader CONGREVE ROCKET first up, but drops in class and no surprise to see him improve, while have a bit of time for OLD MICK and anticipating a strong first-up showing from him.
Suggested: 2. BEAU ZOOM win.
2. BEAU ZOOM
3. HE’S ALL MIGHTY
5. CONGREVE ROCKET
4. OLD MICK
Race 7 – 3:53PM DEVIL’S LAIR HANDICAP (1400 METRES)
Had been waiting for the penny to drop for BRAVE DREAM and she showed she was on track with a strong Ascot 14/10 maiden win. Was given a peach by Clint Johnston-Porter on that occasion, but did really quicken in the straight and her final 200m was among the fastest of the day. Ready for the 1400m now and if new rider Chris Parnham can get her to conserve early, she should have a heap of fuel left to launch late. Impressed with the second-up elevation from HOLYOAKE, sitting off a slow tempo and letting down strongly. Ridden similarly she goes close again. MIYAGI appears placed to challenge the top four, while REXFORD could bob up at odds after encountering some traffic issues first up.
Suggested: 2. BRAVE DREAM win.
2. BRAVE DREAM
Race 8 – 4:30PM SALINGER HANDICAP (1400 METRES)
This is quite an even handicap, with most of the final field capable of winning on their day, but PREVAILING WINDS does look just about due. Caught the eye at Northam and was strong against the pattern in a similar event to this last start, so with a bit of cover in transit he can let down and record his first win in 1012 days. Brad Graham has TONKATUFF racing as well a ever, restricted hm to these 0MWLY midweek assignments. No Ryan Hill, but Chris Parnham is a decent replacement. CAERHELAN lost her way, but has really responded in recent times. No surprise to see her win again, while BUTTERLEA LAD drops in class and will give a sight out in front.
Suggested: 6. PREVAILING WINDS win.
6. PREVAILING WINDS
5. BUTTERLEA LAD
Race 9 – 5:10PM TABTOUCH – BURGESS QUEEN STAKES (1400 METRES)
Outstanding edition of the Burgess Queen Stakes with WA blessed with some fine 3YO fillies. Thinking that SNICKERDOODLEDANDY will be well found after her first-up Belgravia Stakes performance where she was arguably a good thing beat. With Chris Parnham back on, Snickerdoodledandy can be positive from a lovely low draw and have a field position advantage over some of her main rivals. Stablemate KISSONALLFORCHEEKS looks a live chance after a high-quality first-up win. Maps to land outside leader again and goes close from there. Cerise And White stablemates MYSTICAL VIEW and MAGICAL DREAM finished one/two in the Belgravia Stakes and must be respected, as does WATCH ME DANCE who’ll be drifting back and running on with strength.
Suggested: 5. SNICKERDOODLEDANDY win.
8. MYSTICAL VIEW
2. MAGICAL DREAM
1. WATCH ME DANCE
Race 10 – 5:40PM JAMES SQUIRE HANDICAP (1000 METRES)
The race fit/in form ORISTANO will take some beating. Comines back to Class 3 after competing in Saturday ratings races recently, and while coming back to 1000m has to be a query, this low draw brings him right into contention. Expecting former Geraldton-based 6YO COOKING WITH GAS to make an impact first up. Looks to have his share of ability and his Lark Hill 19/10 trial result was solid. SHACKLETON returned to form in a similar event to this last start and will be running on from the back of the field, dual-acceptor DOUBLE JEOPARDY has to be in the mix first up in this grade, while REQUISITION was too good for them this track/distance last start.
Suggested: 5. ORISTANO win.
6. COOKING WITH GAS
1. DOUBLE JEOPARDY
