Race 1 – 12:24PM TABTOUCH BETTER YOUR BET PLATE (1000 METRES)

The most fascinating 2YO race of the season to date and ranking them proved quite the challenge. Ended up with first-starter GEMMA’S SON on top, having been waiting for this fellow to step out after a powerful Lark Hill 21/10/19 trial win. Expected to begin well, land right on top of the speed and prove too strong late. Stablemate SUNNYSILK is a winning chance also, having been a bit stiff not to salute on debut. Will take natural benefit from the race experience. AMERICAN CHOICE is coming off a deserved win and looks hard to beat again, while JANAURA should jump, run and give a sight.

Tips: 4-5-1-9
Suggested: 4. GEMMA’S SON win.

4. GEMMA’S SON
5. SUNNYSILK
1. AMERICAN CHOICE
9. JANAURA

Race 2 – 1:04PM AMELIA PARK HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

Really impressed with INDIAN PACIFIC on debut and he’s going to take some beating again. The $110,000 yearling began sweetly from gate one this track/distance and dominated from the front, clocking decent time and comfortably defeating last week’s winner Holy Ghost. Has the gate speed to find the rail in front from this draw and will be in control from there. JENJA is on the quick back up after being a good thing beat fresh at Bunbury last Sunday. Pike going on is significant, major player. GUESTEEN was excellent on debut, and in-form on-pacer WE’VE GOT DREAMS has to be respected.

Tips: 4-2-9-3
Suggested: 4. INDIAN PACIFIC win.

4. INDIAN PACIFIC
2. JENJA
9. GUESTEEN
3. WE’VE GOT DREAMS

Race 3 – 1:44PM ASCEND SALES TROPHIES HANDICAP (1600 METRES)

MEGAZONE copped a bad beat at Ascot last Saturday, and with even luck he should be able to right some wrongs. Enjoyed a soft run in transit on that occasion and was coiled up ready to pounce, however, the gaps didn’t appear until it was too late. Drawn a touch sticky, but if Jade McNaught can land in a reasonable running position, Megazone should have these covered. Anticipating sharp improvement from BLACK SHADOW third up. Drops in weight, looks ready to fire. STAR VALUE acquitted himself well on his return from injury and can impact again, while DEFIANTLY should be sprouting wings late.

Tips: 2-5-3-7
Suggested: 2. MEGAZONE win.

2. MEGAZONE
5. BLACK SHADOW
3. STAR VALUE
7. DEFIANTLY

Race 4 – 2:24PM MUMM CHAMPAGNE HANDICAP (2200 METRES)

SENTIMENTAL GIFT stands out, however, if she’s going to get rolled it’s most likely to be emerging staying prospect ALIMENTARIA. This mare is charging through the grades and gave them a spanking with 59kg at Pinjarra on Boxing Day. Maps to get a sweet on-pace run in transit and the 5.5kg pull in the weights could prove telling at the end of 2200m. Sentimental Gift is absolutely flying and she’s the obvious. Should get every conceivable from the draw also. MACKENZIE BROOKE returned to form last time and has further upside, while old-timer PUSH TO PASS has to be in your exotics.

Tips: 4-1-8-2
Suggested: 4. ALIMENTARIA win.

4. ALIMENTARIA
1. SENTIMENTAL GIFT
8. MACKENZIE BROOKE
2. PUSH TO PASS

Race 5 – 3:00PM SEPPELT “THE DRIVES” HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

Looks set up nicely for HE’S A GUNSLINGER. Appreciated the rise to 1400m and a flawless Jade McNaught ride to win last start, and should enjoy a similar stalking running position from this draw. Slides down in weight, in career-best form and should give this a mighty shake. Hard to fault the efforts of ROSEBUSH this prep, and she looks ready to peak third up. 1400m is a query, but gate one and Jarrad Noske on are both positives. INSPIRATIONAL GIRL has had an interrupted prep, but is well-regarded and must be respected, while INFLATION and LUCKY LINDA LULU warrant consideration also.

Tips: 9-7-10-1
Suggested: 9. HE’S A GUNSLINGER each way.

9. HE’S A GUNSLINGER
7. ROSEBUSH
10. INSPIRATIONAL GIRL
1. INFLATION

Race 6 – 3:40PM MRS MAC’S-LA TRICE CLASSIC (1800 METRES)

SNOWCHINO looks set to dominate from the front again. On a day that didn’t suit leaders last start, she managed to carve out the best performance of the day with a strong all-the-way Starstruck Classic win. Is having her first look at 1800m, but with a well-rated Joe Azzopardi ride, she should be able to own this race out in front. MIZLECKI was brave when chasing Snowchino throughout last start. Should get it a touch softer from this draw and 1800m is right up her alley. Don’t rule out PERFECT JEWEL with Pike back on board and blinkers off, and LIKE A BUTTERFLY is in top form and rates highly.

Tips: 4-2-1-3
Suggested: 4. SNOWCHINO win.

4. SNOWCHINO
2. MIZLECKI
1. PERFECT JEWEL
3. LIKE A BUTTERFLY

Race 7 – 4:20PM FURPHY-SUMMER SCORCHER (1000 METRES)

If FABERGINO turns up with her A-game she should be too fast. The Ascot 1000m weapon hasn’t been sighted since her Crawford Stakes triumph, fending off Stageman and Flirtini, with those formlines making the result look exceptional. So if she finds the rail in front, it will take a mighty effort to run her down. ESSENTIAL SPICE is an exciting mare also, and she faces her biggest test to date. Tactics from gate one will be interesting, but a peak performance would see her go very close. Must always respect THE CELT, who maps sweetly, and the flying UNDISCLOSED looms as the potential knockout.

Tips: 5-6-1-10
Suggested: 5. FABERGINO win.

5. FABERGINO
6. ESSENTIAL SPICE
1. THE CELT
10. UNDISCLOSED

Race 8 – 5:00PM TABTOUCH-PERTH CUP (2400 METRES)

Peters Investments have won six of the past 10 Perth Cups and appear to have a mortgage on this edition also, but if there’s a horse that can spoil the Cerise And White party it’s the tough-as-nails TAXAGANO. Has risen to a new level with brave Ascot Gold Cup and Towton Cup wins recently, and drops a significant 6kg. May land in front and if it turns into a war, Taxagano won’t lie down. MISSISSIPPI DELTA is the weight horse and Pike is on, and STAR EXHIBIT is chasing a third Perth Cup win. They stand out big time, while SPIRITUAL WARRIOR is peaking at the right time, stays well and 53kg suits.

Tips: 13-7-1-12
Suggested: 13. TAXAGANO each way.

13. TAXAGANO
7. MISSISSIPPI DELTA
1. STAR EXHIBIT
12. SPIRITUAL WARRIOR
11. ROYAL COMMAND

Race 9 – 5:40PM CROWN PERTH HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

Good contest to end Perth Cup Day and locking in PABLO’S POEM on top. Looked above average as a 3YO and while he hasn’t raced for 406 days, has been sharpened up with two very smart lead-up barrier trials. With a clean getaway, maps to land in a prime position and really look ready to give this a nudge first up. FESTIVAL MISS will have a stack of admirers on her return to racing also. Just needs galloping room from gate one to go close. PREVAILING WINDS is in terrific form, and is suited from low draw and weight, PLUTOCRACY ran into a smart one last time, and FAIRVIEW will be swooping late.

Tips: 10-4-12-11
Suggested: 10. PABLO’S POEM win.

10. PABLO’S POEM
4. FESTIVAL MISS
12. PREVAILING WINDS
11. PLUTOCRACY
7. FAIRVIEW
