Race 1 – 2:28PM SEACORP PLATE (1000 METRES)
BEADS back to the 1000m makes sense. Was no match for a fire-breathing Trix Of The Trade over 1200m last start but did box decently after breezing the entire. Maps to tuck in directly behind the leaders and with a more economical run he can attack the line fiercely late. HE’S A SIZZLER was pretty plain last start and the stable has reacted by adding blinkers, a lugging bit and a tongue tie. Stiff when taking on Beads this track/distance two back and a return to peak form makes him hard to beat. MY BABY BLUE JEAN is the interesting runner coming off out a dominant 1200m Pinjarra maiden win. Back to the 1000m is a query and she’ll have to work to find the rail in front. POLICIERE is a class filly resuming with Pike on, so she can win, with fellow first-upper MICHELADA is next in line.
Suggested: 2. BEADS win.
1. HE’S A SIZZLER
6. MY BABY BLUE JEAN
Race 2 – 3:05PM TABTOUCH – WESTSPEED PLATINUM HANDICAP (1000 METRES)
Looks a decent fresh option for ALIEN FROM MARS. Very sparingly raced as a 6YO mare but she did finish her last prep as a winner and had form around some reasonable opposition. Like the booking of Chris Parnham and saved up for one run Alien From Mars has the closing speed to get over the top. EXPRESS TIME has returned in career-best form this prep, defying expectations to win over 1200m last start. 1000m has been her pet trip and she maps to cross and take up the running again. HALATORION comes to town with a full head of steam. Has enjoyed a smother recently so tactics from the outside alley will be interesting. GARAGE DAYS is starting to hit his strips but not sure about coming back to 1000m, while this is actually quite a good setup for REQUISITION.
Suggested: 2. ALIEN FROM MARS win.

1. EXPRESS TIME
5. GARAGE DAYS
Race 3 – 3:40PM MAGIC MILLIONS PLATE (1000 METRES)
Tricky 2YO race this with some varying trial form and less-than-ideal gates for some fancies but from what he produced in an Albany 9/01 trial win HANG GLIDER has to be a factor. Cruised the entire heat and appeared to have plenty in the tank late, and while absorbing raceday pressure is the query he covered the ground stylishly and just needs some luck from the high draw. $200,000 yearling WORK IN PROGRESS makes her debut and has shown enough at trials to suggests she’s a player. Also has an awkward draw to overcomer. GALAXY AFFAIR is the only winner in the event and has to be respected, while PLAYHOUSE PATRON is unbeaten at trials and CRUISE TO VICTORY was a huge run on debut but is on the five-day backup.
Suggested: 4. HANG GLIDER win.
4. HANG GLIDER
11. WORK IN PROGRESS
1. GALAXY AFFAIR
6. PLAYHOUSE PATRON
2. CRUISE TO VICTORY
Race 4 – 4:20PM KAREN HAYNES 50TH BIRTHDAY HANDICAP (1400 METRES)
With no Cheval Da Vaga in his way TRADE WAR gets his chance. Has been massive in defeat at his past two outings but the winner has simply been too good, and while this draw means he’ll be spotting the leaders a reasonable head start again, if TRADE WAR can maintain the rage and reproduce his recent results he’ll salute. PHANTA was really brave in a fast race at Pinjarra 13/01 and the Gangemi Bros have this fellow in good nick. With a more efficient run in front this fellow will take some catching. Like first-upper SKETTA as a prospect and anticipating a good first-up result, while KENDEL’S MEE DAD is in the mix and DIPARA next best.
Suggested: 3. TRADE WAR win.
3. TRADE WAR
1. KENDEL’S MEE DAD
Race 5 – 4:53PM HAPPY 80TH BIRTHDAY MARGIE HANDICAP (1600 METRES)
Maligned mare FASHION QUEEN looks set to make it two on the trot. Wore out her welcome when beaten four times in succession as favourite, but the planets aligned for her last start when getting to show what she can do when the race-shape suits. Does lose William Pike but apprentice Holly Watson should be able to give her a decent steer and keep Fashion Queen out of strife from this draw. SENTIMENTAL QUEEN is coming off a big return behind Billy Ain’t Silly and thinking they may push forward from this draw with Kesh Dhurun claiming 2kg. CRESCENT CITY is building towards a win, working to the line well last start, while the talented TENA KOUTOU resumes and has to be respected while DEPUTANO can win but maps rearwards and is coming off a hoof abscess setback.
Suggested: 4. FASHION QUEEN win.
4. FASHION QUEEN
1. SENTIMENTAL QUEEN
6. CRESCENT CITY
2. TENA KOUTOU
Race 6 – 5:26PM BELHUS RACING STABLES HANDICAP (1600 METRES)
CHEVAL DE VAGA can do it again. Hard to fault what he’s produced in four straight victories and for him to sit on top of a faster-than-average tempo under 59.5kg last start, and still be so strong on the line was super. Up in grade but drops 5.5kg after Dhurun’s claim and if he turns up, not sure these can match him up on top of the speed. Class mare CHILI IS HOT is in-form and hard-fit, so looms as a danger especially considering the soft map she has from gate one. BRUCE ALMIGHTY is a threat also but really needs to find the rail in front to be most effective, while GINGER BAKER is a big weight-dropper and FRIARESQUE hails from the hot Liz Strempel yard.
Suggested: 8. CHEVAL DE VAGA win.
8. CHEVAL DE VAGA
6. CHILI IS HOT
3. BRUCE ALMIGHTY
10. GINGER BAKER
Race 7 – 6:00PM AMELIA PARK HANDICAP (1000 METRES)
Don’t mind this race for STRATHMORE ROSE. Has a good record and was thought of enough to be sent out a $3.80 fave against some smart types first up three weeks ago. Pike going on is significant and if he can be within striking distance on straightening, this mare can let down hard to make things interesting. ACROMANTULA has obvious issues but has oodles of sprinting talent, and he has to be the market elect. Loves the Ascot 1000m and despite what the gear sheet says, actually won with pads on behind last start. Jumped off PINK CARATS at the wrong time last start, showing what she can do back at the 1000m. Still doing a bit wrong but should figure in the finish. MOOD SWINGS and SASSY TRADER are more than capable but both first-uppers have significant shoeing alterations.
Suggested: 7. STRATHMORE ROSE win.
7. STRATHMORE ROSE
10. PINK CARATS
4. MOOD SWINGS
5. SASSY TRADER
Race 8 – 6:30PM SCENIC BLAST STAKES (1200 METRES)
The summer of MISS CONTEKI looks set to roll on in the Scenic Blast Stakes. Has gone bang bang to kick off her prep, claiming both the Summer Scorcher and Miss Andretti against similar line ups in devastating fashion. Expect her to be able to unleash again rising to the 1200m and Chris Parnham just needs to have her close enough and revved up on straightening. CLAIRVOYANCE did too much work in the mid-race first up and was entitled to fold up. Expecting her to rebound hard and for Pike to utilise more economical tactics. ISEERED ISEERED looks really suited at the weights and from this gate, so surprised if he doesn’t figure, while first-upper AMASENUS is no slouch and OUTRAGEOUS went enormous at his only WA appearance so far in the Winterbottom Stakes.
Suggested: 5. MISS CONTEKI win.
5. MISS CONTEKI
10. ISEERED ISEERED
Race 9 – 7:00PM CROWN PERTH HANDICAP (1200 METRES)
Pretty keen on the now Esperance-based DOUBLE SPICE in the “get out”. Always showed promise when with S.J. Miller but two wins for new trainer Neil Dellar suggests this fellow’s relishing the charge of environment. Dominant in fast time with plenty of weight last start, and maps to follow the leading pair so looks set to crunch them late. THE FUGAZI flies fresh and although a high draw hinders he had form around some high-quality horses last spring. CRISTAL DANE is another that has enjoyed a change of stable recently. Likely leader who’ll take some catching. KEEP YOUR FEET can elevate into the finish second up while the best of SOME SORT would make him hard to beat first up for the Gangemi Bros.
Suggested: 3. DOUBLE SPICE win.
3. DOUBLE SPICE
4. CRISTAL DANE
5. KEEP YOUR FEET
1. SOME SORT
8. AGENT KENSINGTON
