Race 1 – 11:42AM HAPPY EASTER FROM ARC MAIDEN (1500 METRES)

Looks the race for PEGGIE’S JOY to break maiden status. Was doing her best work late in a similar event last start, but should settle closer to the leader on this occasion, in a race without a heap of early speed. Kyra Yuill continues to boot home bulk winners and should get off to a flyer here. OXBRIDGE was solid on debut behind smart stablemate Sea War and with a nice trail in transit should be finishing off well rising in trip. HE’S GONSKI had no luck last start, anticipating more positive tactics, while RETURN A SMILE should figure at his first run for his new stable.

Tips: 7-5-3-2
Suggested: 7. PEGGIE’S JOY win.

7. PEGGIE’S JOY
5. OXBRIDGE
3. HE’S GONSKI
2. RETURN A SMILE

Race 2 – 12:17PM WOLFE RACING IN APPRECIATION OF THE ARC MAIDEN (1000 METRES)

Pretty thin maiden this and CALLING CARD really should be hard to beat. Leading local trainer Steve Wolfe is having a terrific 2020, especially with his younger horses, and this 3YO worked home nicely into third in a lead-up Belmont 31/03 trial. Drawn well in a small field, and looks well placed to salute on debut. Fellow first-starter FANGIO will have admirers also following her Albany 27/03 trial win. Looks the main danger. DOLLY’S DREAM led and faded when an $8 chance last start, but is better than that and can rebound, while possible leader CATIA can box on into the first four.

Tips: 5-8-7-6
Suggested: 5. CALLING CARD win.

5. CALLING CARD
8. FANGIO
7. DOLLY’S DREAM
6. CATIA

Race 3 – 12:52PM COMMERCIAL BLOODSTOCK HANDICAP (1230 METRES)

Happy to be on side with IT COMES NATURAL. Come forward nicely second up in the Provincial Champs Heat last start, running into a very much in-form Lickety Split, and was the only on-pacer who figured in the finish after setting a very solid tempo out in front. Should find the rail in front on this occasion and prove very hard to catch. MONGOLIAN WARLORD has been building towards a peak performance and he really caught the eye last start when rattling home from the rear. Stablemate COLD AS COLD looks well placed to figure also, while ATHLONE CASTLE is racing well and has to be considered.

Tips: 2-7-4-3
Suggested: 2. IT COMES NATURAL win.

2. IT COMES NATURAL
7. MONGOLIAN WARLORD
4. COLD AS COLD
3. ATHLONE CASTLE

Race 4 – 1:32PM WATCH ME DANCE HANDICAP (1230 METRES)

Top trainer Adam Durrant has headed to the Great Southern with smart filly BELLE OF LIBERTY and she looks placed to salute first up. Has endured an interrupted prep, having been initially ready to go in February, but her most recent trial results suggests she’s on track to fire fresh. Has the gate speed to lead and it’ll take a decent effort to get past her. WHAT ABOUT MOSES does look the most likely, with his best form capable of stretching the topweight. A touch plain last start, but can rebound back on his home deck, while LONG KNIFE BROTHER and LITTLE PUNGA round out the top four.

Tips: 1-3-8-2
Suggested: 1. BELLE OF LIBERTY win.

1. BELLE OF LIBERTY
3. WHAT ABOUT MOSES
8. LONG KNIFE BROTHER
2. LITTLE PUNGA

Race 5 – 2:15PM RED CAN MAN HANDICAP (1900 METRES)

DEEL RED got the job done in a similar event to this last start and he’s going to be a hard horse to catch again. Got the bob in right on the line to fend off class local stayer War Ksar last start, and with similar tactics out in front from Tash Faithfull, should have rivals stretching their necks again. MASS EFFECT hasn’t been too bad taking on better opposition at his last two and looks placed to advantage back in this grade. BLACK RUSSIAN has has an interrupted prep and it’ll be a decent training effort to get him over the line, while BENTLEY’S BROTHER ran on strong last time.

Tips: 6-1-2-7
Suggested: 6. DEEL RED win.

6. DEEL RED
1. MASS EFFECT
2. BLACK RUSSIAN
7. BENTLEY’S BROTHER

Race 6 – 2:52PM LORDHELPMERUN HANDICAP (1900 METRES)

Been a while between drinks, but wouldn’t be surprised to see the lightly-weighted AGROUND give this a shake. Finished a close-up third behind Trade Storm and subsequent Ascot winner Sowar in this grade last start, and apprentice Madi Derick should give him an economical run from gate one. Is a winner this track/distance and down on 52kg simply has to be considered. TRADE STORM is absolutely flying for Angela Smith and although shouldered with 62kg, should take some beating again. TRIGGERFISH has his first crack at 1900m and is certainly in the mi, as is TAKE ME HOME HONEY.

Tips: 11-1-2-7
Suggested: 11. AGROUND each way.

11. AGROUND
1. TRADE STORM
2. TRIGGERFISH
7. TAKE ME HOME HONEY

Race 7 – 3:32PM MUNGRUP STUD STANDING A LOFT HANDICAP (1100 METRES)

Hard not to be impressed with the first-up victory from SEA WAR and he stands out as the horse to beat again. Enjoyed a suitable run in transit that day and really put them to the sword late, drawing clear for a 3.1L win. Maps nicly from this low draw, in what should be a genuinely run race, and if kept out of trouble by Brodie Kirby should get the job done. Have to respect in-form on-pacer DANEHILL STORM and he gives himself every opportunity. May even lead this field, while UNIVERSAL APPEAL and DEANGLES map mid/back but should both be running on with strength late.

Tips: 5-1-4-2
Suggested: 5. SEA WAR win.

5. SEA WAR
1. DANEHILL STORM
4. UNIVERSAL APPEAL
2. DEANGLES

Race 8 – 4:10PM TABTOUCH LADIES BRACELET (1600 METRES)

Promising filly KARIJINI AURORA faces a challenging assignment taking on some more seasoned mares in the feature Ladies Bracelet, but confident she has the class to still come out on top. Was aided by a lovely William Pike ride from gate nine to salute at Ascot 1/04 and with similar positive tactics rising to the mile, she can land in a commanding position in the first four/five in running. THUNDER BOOM has come back a better horse this prep and she dominated her rivals at Pinjarra 30/03. Rock hard and in peak form, so has to rate highly, while MYGIRLFRANKIE and SASSATIONAL can figure also.

Tips: 3-1-7-10
Suggested: 3. KARIJINI AURORA win.

3. KARIJINI AURORA
1. THUNDER BOOM
7. MYGIRLFRANKIE
10. SASSATIONAL

Race 9 – 4:50PM CHAFF CITY HANDICAP (1230 METRES)

Decent contest to finish the day and it looks a decent option for CAPTIVATED POINT back on his home track. Is always a major player in these old ‘Open Sprints’ and his last two Ascot performances have been pretty solid, so that form should hold up well. Maps to enjoy the right run in transit and produced at the right time by Brodie Kirby should be gunning them down late. Veteran sprinter POTENT SECRET is back in good nick and just failed to catch stablemate Tranquilla Sunrise last start. Drawn nicely too, while natural on-pacers SIR SNUGALOT and JUST ACT NATURAL have to be major players also.

Tips: 4-5-2-7
Suggested: 4. POTENT SECRET win.

4. POTENT SECRET
5. SIR SNUGALOT
2. JUST ACT NATURAL
7. REALISE POTENTIAL

*Numbers amended after scratchings
