R1 2015 BOULDER ROTARY RADIO AUCTION MAIDEN 1600 12:43
A field of seven will contest the first event on the traditional Mother’s Day card. The locally trained VERSED REMEDY (6) is one of only two horses engaged in the event that have placed in the top three prior to today. The Robert Brown trained filly has six placings from fourteen starts. Expect Tash Faithfull to take the three year old straight to the front and prove hard to run down. REGAL GOSSIP (7) will compete in her easiest assignment to date today. The filly’s trainer Russell Stewart has had success over the past few years at the KBRC. Former leading Kalgoorlie trainer Cliff Smith brings VENERDI (1) to the track today with the four year old first up. The son of Blackfriars has placed first up before which reads well in a field that lacks depth. The Peter Fernie trained PITHARA BOWLS (4) steps up to the mile today after only a modest performance last start when six lengths behind his stable mate.
SELECTIONS: 6-7-1-4
R2 SAFE AND SOUND STORAGE MAIDEN 1200m 1:23
The second event is an open affair. The Merv Dellar trained HERE COMES POPPY (1) looks to have claims coming off a third placed performance behind Yuzz A Ma Tuzz. Prior to last start the Casino Prince gelding ran second over 1300m. Kev Bohorun will be aboard the four year old today who drops back to the 1200m. Esperance trainer Helen Harding brings PARADISE LASS (9) back to Kalgoorlie today after a fair first career start when being beaten three lengths on ANZAC Day. Expect improvement from the three year old today who should enjoy a good run from barrier three. Four year old SHE’S GAGA (6) will back up from her third placed performance last week at the track. The Due Sasso mare will enjoy the claim of locally based apprentice Shaun O’Donnell Jnr. Ascot trainer Craig Wright will be looking for success at the track today with TINKER TAILOR (7). The filly ran a handy second last start behind Play With Magic.
SELECTIONS: 1-9-6-7
R3 GOLDFIELDS ENGRAVING & TYREPOWER HANDICAP 1200m 2:03
A handy field will take to the track in the third race on the card. The Patrick Bermingham Jnr trained SCULPTURES (6) produced a good track debut last start. The step-up to the 1200m looks to suit with the Exceed and Excel gelding who will enjoy a good run from gate three. ARSENAL POWER (2) has fired since arriving in Kalgoorlie for trainer Gary Bowen. Expect the five year old to be there come the business end. The Peter Fernie trained ZEE DRIBBLER (4) has drawn the fence today and has claims second up. HALLOWELL FEVER (5) has been thereabouts at his past few starts. He is yet to win over the 1200m.
SELECTIONS: 6-2-4-5
R4 RSM BIRD CAMERON HANDICAP 1100m 2:43
The first leg of the Quaddie is an interesting contest with the main chances at the top of the weight scale. THE CRUEL SEA (3) will have its sixth start today looking for his second victory in the Class One event. Ben Kennedy will have to overcome barrier eight with the 58.5kg. LET’S GO LAKERS (2) will have its first start locally for trainer Rickie Brown. The three year old has been a model of consistency at his ten starts to date. GOLDANETTO (7) trialed well a few weeks back and the form out of that trial reads well with Devotive saluting last start. FORMIDABLE STORM (4) has been racing well and has claims in this company.
SELECTIONS: 3-2-7-4
R5: LAKES ELECTRICAL DISTRIBUTORS HANDICAP 1600m 3:20
The fifth of the day sees lightly raced three year olds right up to ten year old veterans engaged. ADRICAT (2) looks to have claims in the event with his turn of foot. It has been a while between drinks for the seven year old. Expect him to hit the line strongly late. YUZZ A MA TUZZ (11) gets into the event with the feather weight of 51kg. The mile looks to suit the filly. Three year old TOM ALMIGHTY (5) rewarded his connections by saluting after he was sent to Kalgoorlie. The Saxon three year old came from midfield last start to win over the mile. ANYWHERE EXPRESS (3) has to be included in a field she would normally beat at her best.
SELECTIONS: 2-11-5-3
R6 PETER PALMER MEMORIAL 1400m 3:57
The open event on the card is a special treat for local racing fans. KRONFELD (4) steps up to the 1400m today where he has saluted three times from four attempts over the distance. The Merv Dellar trained galloper had to switch out late in his run to the line last start where he should have finished closer. His biggest rival is PRIVATE BUSINESS (2) who has won three times over the distance. In a change of tactics the six year old was taken to the front last start to ensure he wasn’t trapped wide in running. The move paid off with the Key Business gelding holding off some late charges to salute. HUSSATION (7) has been in great form and deserves to win one soon. With a pull in the weights the Hussonet gelding will be at good bet at an each way price. RAFFERTY (6) has been racing well finishing within a length of the winner at his past two starts.
SELECTIONS: 4-2-7-6
R7 STATIONERY PLUS OFFICE CHOICE HANDICAP 1300m 4:32
The last on the day is likely to be the most open affair the KBRC has held this year. CROWN SAGA (3) has plenty of ability and has claims in the capacity field. The Bel Esprit mare has won three from nineteen with two of her victories over the 1300m. The Gary Bowen trained TULLY DAYO (13) flew home last start to finish third in a handy field. A similar performance will see the five year old figure in the finish. CHOP IT OUT (6) produced an encouraging performance last start when running second. The six year old has drawn well and will have the two kilogram claim of Jordan Turner. The Joanne Forrest trained DARK ROYALTY (4) holds an enviable record of two wins from three starts and should go well today. Shaun Meeres will have to overcome the outside gate.
