R1 CORINTHIAN DOORS MAIDEN 1400m 1:34
A competitive affair to kick off the ANZAC day meeting. HERE COMES POPPY (3): The three year old produced a promising track debut last start. The Casino Prince gelding yielded considerable ground at the top of the straight when racing wide balancing up. If the Merv Dellar trained galloper stays on the rail from barrier one it should prove hard to run down. YUZZ A MA TUZZ (6): Solid performance last start when forced to race wide the entirety. Barrier two combined with the step up to the 1400m should suit the son of Flying Spur. PITHARA BOWLS (4): Transferred to leading trainer Peter Fernie after its last start fifth placed performance at the track. The three year old has only had the two career starts and the sectional it produced last start was promising. SCARPER BAY (7): Racing competitively in this type of company and should enjoy a dream run from barrier five. Has placed at the one attempt over the 1400m.
R2 SLOW DOWN AND ENJOY THE RIDE MAIDEN 1200m 2:14
The second race on the card is a competitive affair. REGAL WEAPON (4): The four year old resumes today and has placed first up. The Musket mare has accumulated five placings from eleven career starts. Ben Kennedy will be legged aboard the Fernie trained galloper for the first time today. TURBO TRACEY (5): Gallant in defeat last start when chasing her stablemate gamely to the line over the final stages. Barrier ten is not ideal but the filly showed enough last start to suggest she can go close in this event. PARADISE LASS (9): The Helen Harding trained filly produced an eye catching trial at Albany when missing the start. The three year old subsequently mustered speed and hit the line strong. The Esperance galloper will have her first career start today and should be at an each way price. ENCHANTING MISS (6): The Dane Shadow filly was fair first up when only three lengths behind the winner. Expect improvement second up.
R3 CITY BUILDING SUPPLIES HANDICAP 1200m 2:55
A cracking affair where the obvious chances all have to carry significant weights. SAXON COAST (1): The Helen Harding trained galloper’s performance last start was not as bad as it reads on paper. He will be fitter for the run and has won with a big weight before. CASINO BELLE (4): Should be ready to fire second up after finishing four lengths behind his stablemate. BET ON FAITH (2): Resumes today and has won first up. Shaun O’Donnell Jnr will claim 3kg giving the six year old an advantage in the weights. REAL GLOW (8): Forget last run when wide. Before recent effort was racing well.
R4 DRINK DRIVING – ITS NEVER OK HANDICAP 1100m 3:25
First Leg of the Quaddie. ASHANTI LASS (11): Will carry the featherweight of 51kg with the claim of Clint Johnston-Porter. Should go helter skelter and the 1100m looks her ideal distance. ARSENAL POWER (4): Eye catching performance last start when hitting the line strong. Has drawn gate three and if the five year old doesn’t get too far back he will prove hard to hold out. RIDDLE (1): Game type who gives his all. Will have to carry 60kg today from gate eleven but still expect him to be there come the business end. WALK BY MY SIDE (2): Produced impressive sectional last start and will be fitter for the run.
R5 KALGOORLIE RSL HANDICAP 1400m 3:55
Many chances engaged. CASINO GLEAM (7): Solid performance first up when beaten half a length. Looking for his fourth career victory today. Well weighted with the 55kg and should go close if he races handy. BONAVENTURE (5): Solid performance in similar company last start when off the track the whole race. Shelby Bowtell will have an easier assignment today jumping from barrier five. DARADALE (8): Hit the line strong last start when near the tail on the turn for home. May be forced to settle back today with barrier twelve. THIDWICK THE MOOSE (6): Solid track debut and further improvement will see him go close today.
R6 KALGOORLIE ANZAC 100TH COMMEMORATIVE HANDICAP 1300m 4:30
Feature race of the day. KRONFELD (3): Drawn well and looks hard to beat today coming off a solid performance first up when gunned down in the final stages. The 1300m is not his ideal distance but he has an abundance of talent and will be hard to beat from barrier two. PRIVATE BUSINESS (6): Hit traffic in the run to the line last start. The six year old is in great form and will be steaming to the line. RAFFERTY (5): Second up today with his first up run encouraging. The seven year old was held up until the 300m last start and only finished a length behind the winner which he meets once again today. PROST (4): Second up record is good with three wins from eight attempts. He should settle rearwards and do his best work late.
R7 MASTERS FOOTBALL CLUB HANDICAP 1200m 5:05
Capacity field. KIM DYNASTY (7): Impressive performance last start when hitting the line in a determined fashion. Well weighted in similar company and there is no reason why she can’t string two in a line. CROWN SAGA (3): Holds a fifty percent first three strike rate. Well performed at the track with three wins from twelve starts. OUR NEW ORDER (4): Been a while between drinks with the eight year old however his first up performance was encouraging when finishing third behind his stablemate. FORMIDABLE STORM (9): Has a significant pull in the weights on the fancied runners. Can race on pace and from gate five should get all the favours. Third up this preparation and should be thereabouts come the finishing post.
