Taylor To Push Ignition Switch

Trainer Sharon Taylor’s Oratorio 4yo Ignition ($2.70 fav) has opened favourite for today’s TABTouch Supporting WA Racing 60-72 HCP 1200m event at Ascot.

The gelding has enjoyed a stellar preparation this time in, winning first up by 3 ½ lengths late last year before solid efforts up in class culminating in a close long head second to Bangkok Express over 1000m in its most recent outing.

Young apprentice Clint Johnston-Porter will claim three (55kg), and a favourable draw (barrier one) should see Ignition work up on the speed from the inside alley.

Taylor also presents Blackfriars 4yo Taxadermy ($7.50) in the Argonaut 52-64 HCP 2200m and will be hoping experienced hoop Peter Knuckey will find cover today from barrier 16, following a luckless run in transit last start which saw the gelding trapped wide before fighting to the line for a brave 1 ½ length fourth behind Abbeybell Lane over 1800m.

In other races, the David Harrison prepared Universal Moon ($2.00 fav) has demanded fiscal respect in the Westspeed 3YO 1MW 1000m for the fillies following a barnstorming final sectional (34.57 sec) last start over 1100m which saw the daughter of Universal Ruler come from seventh and wide on turning to blouse rivals by 2 ¼ lengths.

Hoop Patrick Carbery will again take the ride and will carry 56kgs from barrier seven.

The Harrison stable will also be represented by the resuming Kaapander ($4.00) in the third and Jestpatim ($4.40) in the sixth of the day.
