Thoroughbred – Stewards’ Inquiry – Licensed Jockey Mr Daniel Staeck – Ascot Racecourse Trackwork on Tuesday, 17 March 2015
RWWA Stewards have finalised their deliberations in regard to penalty following Jockey Daniel Staeck being found guilty to a charge under AR.81A(1)(b) for failing to provide a urine sample when directed at Ascot Trackwork on Tuesday, 17 March 2015.
Mr Staeck subsequently had his Jockeys licence disqualified for a period of nine (9) months with the penalty being backdated to 17 March 2015 being the date his licence was initially suspended under the provisions of LR.10(d) pending the outcome of the inquiry.
In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account the following factors
- The seriousness and particular circumstances of the offence
- Mr Staeck’s record which showed a previous related offence for providing a urine sample on Wednesday, 19 March 2014 at Ascot Racecourse which upon analysis was found to contain banned substances
- His personal circumstances
