Saturday’s winners on Breeding

A big day for local stallions, winning six of the eight races. Yesterday showed the value in buying locally bred yearlings.

A double for Scenic Lodge  (Market Ruler and Angelic Ruler), Yarradale Stud (The Big Show and Neurological), and Lynward Park Stud (Ambiente and Fontainebleau.

The $400,000 Group 2 Ted Van Heemst went to the super mare Galaxy Star, a daughter of Arrowfield Stud’s all-conquering Redoute’s Choice.

In an interesting twist, forty minutes or so after presenting the trophy to the winning connections of the Group 2 event which carries his name, the former Perth Racing chairman Ted Van Heemst was back on the dais accepting the trophy for the win of the 5YO mare Fontainebleau, by his stallion Alfred Nobel.

Another double for Scenic Lodge’s Universal Ruler who continues his great run of late.
