Saturday’s Ascot winners on breeding

Freshman sire Safeguard’s two-year-old filly Miss West Coast made it back to back wins on Saturday at Ascot, and in doing so stamped herself as a likely contender for the Listed Perth Magic Millions Classic and the Group 2 Karrakatta Plate.

Miss West Coast was bred and sold by Mogumber Park Stud who jointly stand Safeguard with Oakland Park Stud. Safeguard stood at Mogumber Park for his first two seasons and now stationed at Oakland Park.

Mogumber Park will offer a full -sister to Miss West Coast in Perth Magic Millions Sale to be held 18 and 19 February at the new Swan Valley Sales Complex.

Safeguard has 17 yearlings going under the hammer at the Perth Magic Millions Sales.

Mungrup Stud’s Oratorio continued on from where he left off last week with his son Fire And Rain taking out the 3YO Open handicap over 1000 metres. Oratorio continues to show he is a value for money stallion capable of throwing black type winners and a high percentage of metropolitan class gallopers. Oratorio will be represented by 13 yearlings at the Perth Sale.

Four local stallions produced winners on the day – Oratorio (Mungrup Stud), Safeguard (Mogumber Park and Oakland Park), He’s A Decoy (Westbury Park) and Planet Five (Touchstone Farm).
