Hall of fame trainer Neville Parnham has an impressive list of representatives at Ascot today, but following an interview on TABradio this morning, Binky Toy seemingly has captured his imagination.
The three year old filly by Snitzel from Foscat, began her racing career looking to replicate the feats of her half-brother Trichologist, who finished as a runner up in both the Karrakatta Plate and the Sires Produce.
Binky Toy’s mother Foscat claimed her only victory over 1600 metres in Brisbane back in 2013 but her progeny found greater success with Athenas Gift winning four races, three over the same distance.
“The pace was very strong and she (Binky Toy) was taken off the bridle and because she is new, she didn’t know what to do and was under a lot of pressure. I thought she would run closer to last than anywhere else, but she ran on really well and ran through the line” Parnham said on TABradio.
On debut, Binky Toy was left in the second half of the field as the promising Volkoff put the race out of grasp early, but found her stride in the straight and attacked the line brilliantly into second, indicating a progressive future.
“She’s a really nice horse and I expect her to have a really nice future” he added.
Binky Toy will race in the Westspeed Handicap over 1400 metres for three year olds starting at 2:33pm, covered extensively on TABradio and viewable on Sky Racing.
