The Western Australian partnership of Dan and Ben Pearce is set to add to the WA flavour already in Melbourne when they send three of their runners over in the next two weeks.
Four-year-old mare Angelic Ruler, who had three runs in Melbourne at the start of the year, will take her place this weekend in the Group 3 How Now Stakes at Caulfield (1200m).
“She’s the main reason we’re coming back to Melbourne,” Dan Pearce said of Angelic Ruler, who placed in the G2 Argus Armanasco Stakes, G2 Kewney Stakes and G3 Alexandra Stakes.
“She’s shown us that she can perform in Melbourne against the top-class runners and there are so many options for her when we look at the program.”
The mare by Universal Ruler will be aimed towards the G1 Empire Rose Stakes at Flemington (1600m) on November 2.
She flies out on Tuesday night with stablemate Pushin’ Shapes, the winner of the Listed Northam Cup (1600m) and the Coolgardie Cup (1760m).
“We were trying to find races for him in Perth and decided that the Country Cup scene in Melbourne probably suits him more,” Pearce added.
“We can aim him towards the Seymour and Sale Cup and he’d be very competitive.”
Group 3 winner Vital Silver will then head across two weeks later and take his place in the G2 Gilgai Stakes at Flemington (1200m).
He already boasts an impressive record of eight victories from only 15 starts.
“He’s another runner that the Melbourne program looks ideal for,” Pearce said.
With Angelic Ruler already showing that she can perform in Melbourne, Pearce said the weekend results of Gatting and Arcadia Queen only boosted his confidence levels.
“We’ve always known that the best WA form is very strong, we’ve seen that for years,” he said.
“We look forward to coming across and adding to that record again and hopefully we can win some nice races.”
