Lucy Warwick tops the OzRace poll on who is Western Australia’s best apprentice with 34% of the vote. Chris Parnham finished second with 31%.
Lucy, the daughter of leading trainer Justin Warwick, has been a revelation since she commenced riding. Even though she is currently riding in Melbourne and has been for some time, she still sits in second place on the Western Australian Jockey Premiership with 56 wins and a strike rate of 14.70%.
Unfortunately, she hasn’t been able to gain traction in Melbourne due to her success in Western Australia, as she went over there with no provincial/country allowance which puts her head to head with some of the nation’s leading riders competing for mounts.
Lucy’s Melbourne record stands at 22 rides for 4 wins, 3 seconds and 4 thirds and a strike rate of 18.18%.
On the other hand, Chris Parnham is building on his reputation in Melbourne and is growing in confidence with each ride. Yesterday was a red letter day for the youngest son of Hall of Fame trainer Neville Parnham, when he booted home Rommel for his Father in the Group 3 Zedative Stakes and finished second in the Group 1 Futurity Stakes on Smokin’ Joey.
Chris’s Melbourne record stands at 83 rides for 11 wins, 6 seconds, 3 thirds and a strike rate of 13.25%.
