Kirby Starts Final Ascot Day With A Bang

In-form jockey Brodie Kirby has kept his outstanding run of form going, taking out the Lanciano Plate (1100m) at Ascot this afternoon aboard the Adam Durrant-trained Miss Ellmya.

Kirby, who rode four winners at Ascot last Saturday and a treble at the same venue on Wednesday, settled the Alfred Nobel filly outside race leader We’ve Got Dreams.

We’ve Got Dreams gave a strong kick at the top of the straight, but Miss Ellmya wore her down over the closing stages to score her second victory from just three starts.

Mini Winnie made up good ground late in the race to finish a length away in second, while Red Can Man stormed home from last to finish third.

Kirby said he was “grateful” to be back riding winners and was full of praise for the two-year-old.

“She’s a real professional the way she goes about it,” he said.

“She does everything you ask of her.

“It was a bit of a better race…I thought she’d be close.”

Meanwhile, the Simon Miller-trained Lady Cosmology has recorded her first Group win, taking out the Group 3 Proud Miss Stakes (1200m) at Morphettville.

Lady Cosmology, pictured above, crossed from her wide barrier to lead and dug in to score an impressive victory.

Miller was full of praise for his filly.

“She’s a good filly,” he told racing.com.

“I wanted to use her up and be aggressive because it wasn’t like 1200 was going to be an issue.”
