The Adam Durrant stable have dominated country Cups recently, and yesterday at Mount Barker the amazing run continued with an inspired all the way win for Irish bred 7yo Marden ($4.40 fav) in the local feature.
Sent to the front early by hoop Peter Hall, the Danehill Dancer gelding was rated to perfection throughout before kicking clear of main challenger Backhouse Street ($6.60) in the straight to salute by a half-length.
It has been a successful week for Durrant having also collected the $120,000 Bunbury Cup 2200m with Tick Tick Bloom last Thursday.
Hall, backing up from a tremendous win aboard Delicacy in the $100,000 Listed Natasha Stakes 2200m at Ascot on Saturday, managed a double on the day for Durrant when earlier getting Our Bonny Lad ($11.60) to the line in the Irongate Premium Wagyu Beef HCP 1300m.
In other races, apprentice Luck Warwick continued her good form in the saddle since resuming from eastern states riding commitments with yet another double – leading throughout with Ellinor Belle ($15.20) in the opener, before doing much the same with a well rated ride aboard Tepago Tango ($9.10) for Gerry Hughes in the fifth.
