Exciting stakes winner by Jimmy Choux

Roselee Park resident Jimmy Choux (NZ) sired his latest stakes winner when Two Illicit won the LR Trevor Eagle Memorial (1500m) at Ellerslie on Saturday.

The Trelawney Stud homebred was tackling black-type company for the first time off the back of a maiden victory at the same venue last month.  She speared through a gap in the straight under Vinnie Colgan to defeat the favourite Dragon Leap (Pierro).

Two Illicit (3f Jimmy Choux – Gemini by Tale Of The Cat) is trained by Roger James and Robert Wellwood for a syndicate managed by Trelawney Stud couple Brent and Cherry Taylor.  She’s from the family of European Group 1 classic winner Midday and the black-type ensures her future as a broodmare at the famed Cambridge nursery in New Zealand.

“She galloped with blinkers earlier this week and worked superbly so we added them today,” Wellwood claimed.  “That’s probably been the difference between winning and losing the race.”

“She was very green here last time and has learnt from that experience.  She’s an exciting filly and we can go forward with a lot of confidence.”

Jimmy Choux is standing his first season at Roselee Park in Serpentine at a $4,950 service fee.  Following the transfer to WA earlier this year, his star sprinter The Bostonian captured a Group 1 double in the Doomben 10,000 and BTC Cup.

His Melbourne-based stakes winner Manolo Blahniq was due to run in the G1 Railway Stakes last week before an elevated temperature kept him off the flight to Perth.
