Alan Mathews and Patrick Carbery combine again this Saturday at Ascot, in search of another listed victory for star mare Cool Trade, after she powered home to win the Scenic Blast stakes last start. Engaged in the $100,000 listed Miss Andretti Stakes over 1200 metres this weekend, Cool Trade’s stocks are set to rise, as she appears ideally placed in the field of 12.
Running at an incredible current 50% winning strike rate from 14 starts, the four year old Trade Fair mare dealt with the application of bar-plates last start, but looked at her peak, winning by a length.
“She jumped clear of them the other day, but when she got that little bit of respite, she really hit the line nicely and if that were to happen tomorrow, she’ll be hard to beat again” said Mathews when interview on TABradio.
Alan Mathews also made mention of his star galloper taking a break following the listed feature at Ascot this Saturday.
“She’s done a good enough job, we’ve come through the three year old company during the Belmont season” he stated.
“But there’s always that query as to whether those horses can go to the next level, and she’s done that” he added.
Still relatively young, Cool Trade’s future looks prosperous, with greater goals in the crosshairs for connections.
The Miss Andretti Stakes will jump at 4:10pm and to be covered extensively on TABradio and viewable on Sky Racing.
