Comments: 2 x Magic Millions + Detonator Stakes + Challenge Stakes = one great day of racing at Ascot. Formulas aside, this is one very tricky card with multiple chances in every race so “err on the side of caution” is the best advise one can give. In saying that, if there was a stand out tomorrow it would have to be RED ORA in the 3YO Magic Millions Trophy. Has simply toyed with challengers in its first four career starts, and heads into this Listed race without a blemish – add to that one the greatest groups of vocal owners witnessed for some time and one can’t help but think that the son of Due Sasso will have more than just William Pike getting it to the line for No 5. Happy to have another go at the Jim Taylor trained NEW TIME in the fourth. Has come up against a few good one’s recently but gets its chance here and has been freshened up for this, while I’m liking the odds for the difficult filly FRENCH CHAMPAGNE in the Challenge Stakes. Has been a handful for a few trainers now, but Shane Quilty has been the one to get her to the track, and from there – WOW – the half-sister to Marasco, although still very green, has shown a bright racing future may well be in store. As for the main feature the Magic Millions 2YO Classic – going with LUCKY STREET with no confidence, while one of Lou Luciani’s pair should win the Detonator – YOUNG LIONEL for mine.
