The Murray Sharp trained Big Clint ($4.20) looks set to batter the Geraldton race course again this afternoon, as the son of Lonhro aims for its fifth win this preparation in the Onesteel HCP BM68+ 1100m.
In a hope of extending its unflattering career, Big Clint headed north back in October 2013 where it found the change of environment to its liking – winning at its second try on the local track, before rounding out a solid first campaign.
But it wasn’t until landing with Sharp late last year, that the seasoned 6yo really found itself – scoring four devastating all the way wins this time in for its new trainer, with a luckless third the only blemish.
Young apprentice Jordan Turner will again take the ride, and it is likely we will see Big Clint rolling out in front again today as it negotiates a wide draw (barrier 7).
Another looking to continue its winning run – the Tony Scally prepared Confucius ($3.30 fav) will tack on another 500m today as it endeavours to make it four on the trot.
Having mastered 1400 to1618m trips since resuming, the McFlirt 6yo will step up to the 1900m today in the CSBP – Kevin Hunt Memorial HCP BM67+ – a distance which saw it salute last preparation against similar company.
Lucas Camilleri will again take the ride.
