Hi, my name is Bruce, well actually Bruce Almighty.
I am a 3YO equine athlete, well, that is what I want to be. At the moment I am an unraced and untried 3YO thoroughbred. I am bred to run. My Dad is a local WA legend – he is a multiple Group 1 winner, his name is Playing God. My Mum did pretty well for herself on the race track as well – she won at Group level.
I am a country boy, born and raised at Mungrup Stud, Narrikup, down Albany way, where so many successful equine athletes have been raised. In case you don’t know, Mungrup Stud is one of Western Australia’s leading nurseries for thoroughbreds. Without boasting, you could call me blueblood, private school type, but with a humble approach to life.
A special shout out to the people that have sponsored me in my quest to become a professional athlete. I hope I can repay you. I will do my very best.
I have been in work since 10 October. I started work at Coach Parnham’s Shangri La property in Banjup – wow what a property Shangri La is – big paddocks and a nice sand track to do my pre-training – it’s a really cool place. I have to say the first week or so was a shock to the system – early to rise six days a week – it is like boot camp.
I have now moved to Coach Parnham’s Ascot stable. One of the team took a photo and video of me at Ascot after work. I am the good looking one on the right-hand side in the video.
I was really pleased to overhear the Coach tell my manager, the other Bruce, that he was pleased with my manners and the way I went about my work. In racing lingo, which I am learning, he said he was impressed with how I grab the bit and want to work.
Anyway, time for dinner. I will keep you posted of my progress.
