RACE 1 TABTOUCH MAIDEN 12:29 PM (1400M)
Pretty keen on the chances of the Simon A. Miller-prepared OUR BONNIE GIRL, who has been super when getting back and running on at her two runs this prep. Expected to settle somewhere in the first four/five from a better draw here, and the blinkers going on should help sharpen her up also. CLEVER DICK box-seated and just peaked on his run late second up last time. Even fitter and likely to figure prominently again from another low draw. TIPS AND SCANDALS comes through the same race as Clever Dick and can win, while ZON ZOL probably should’ve won at Bunbury last time and will have admirers.
Suggested: 1. CLEVER DICK 1 x 3 units.
1. CLEVER DICK
8. TIPS AND SCANDALS
4. ZON ZOL
5. I’M SLATS
*Numbers amended after scratchings.
RACE 2 OLD COMRADE STAKES 1:09 PM (1600M)
Thinking an upset could be on the cards in the Old Comrade Stakes and PINZU is the horse most capable of knocking off likely fave FALCON CREST. Pinzu has competed over unsuitable distances at his two runs back from a break, but looks much better suited over this trip sliding down to the 54kg minimum. Expecting the Durrant camp to have him ready to produce his best. Falcon Crest is the obvious horse to beat after edging out the very much in-form Red Ora in a two-horse war last time. NORTH RIDGE loves the Ascot mile and shouldn’t be taken lightly, while ALREADY FAMOUS is ready to peak fourth up.
Suggested: 5. PINZU win.
1. FALCON CREST
4. NORTH RIDGE
3. ALREADY FAMOUS
RACE 3 AMELIA PARK BEEF HANDICAP 1:49 PM (1200M)
High-quality youngsters going toe-to-toe and with a clean getaway, the raw-but-gifted ROCKON TOMMY maps to land in the right spot to win. Drifted back and hit the line hard first up, but should position somewhere in the first four, here and from there really should take some beating. THREE SECRETS was well supported last Saturday, but was brought undone by the prevailing conditions on the day. Expecting him to hit back hard. Unbeaten PEARLS AND PRAWNS faces her biggest test in this grade with the map against her, while IN LOVE WITH PARIS goes good also and is another genuine winning chance.
Suggested: 2. ROCKON TOMMY each way.
2. ROCKON TOMMY
4. THREE SECRETS
7. PEARLS AND PRAWNS
1. IN LOVE WITH PARIS
RACE 4 AMELIA PARK LODGE HANDICAP 2:29 PM (1200M)
Small but very interesting race indeed. Hard not to be impressed with the efforts of THE CELT since joining the Anne King stable, producing three high-quality results from as many starts. Looks much better suited back over the 1200m and from the good draw, should be close enough to get over the top of the fancied leaders BELTER and FLOYD. Belter has jumped out of the ground since being ridden for speed and teaming up with apprentice Tayla Stone. Expect him to take some catching. Floyd is well-regarded but faces an acid test, while ROGER THE ROMAN looks well placed to fire up back in grade.
Suggested: 4. THE CELT win.
4. THE CELT
2. ROGER THE ROMAN
RACE 5 AMELIA PARK WINES HANDICAP 3:08 PM (1400M)
The public have been eagerly-awaiting for the return of ‘next big thing’ MISSILE LAUNCH. The hulking four-year-old was unbeaten in four starts during his spring/summer prep and created a major impression in doing so. Wasn’t asked for a lot in his recent barrier trial and if this fellow is anywhere near right, he should simply be too good for his rivals. WAR JEUNE has his share of ability also and should be fitter following his solid first-up result. Gives himself every chance by racing up on top of the speed, while last-start winners PRIZE CATCH and TAXAGANO are obvious top-four inclusions.
Suggested: 7. MISSILE LAUNCH win.
7. MISSILE LAUNCH
6. WAR JEUNE
3. PRIZE CATCH
RACE 6 KIRIN MEGUMI-W.A. OAKS 3:45 PM (2400M)
Been all aboard the FRIAR FOX bandwagon for a while and she looks a standout in the 2018 WA Oaks. Moral beaten in the Ascot 1000 Guineas, but made amends with a demolition job in the Natasha Stakes last time. Expecting her to settle somewhere in the first six/seven and only bad luck stands in the way of her saluting. Maiden filly MODERN NEWS impressed with the way she attacked the line in the Natasha Stakes and will relish the rise to 2400m. AMERICAN JOY is William Pike’s pick of the five Team Williams runners, while class filly PRIVATE DANCER is a distance query but must be respected.
Suggested: 2. FRIAR FOX win.
2. FRIAR FOX
11. MODERN NEWS
4. AMERICAN JOY
1. PRIVATE DANCER
RACE 7 AMELIA PARK-KARRAKATTA PLATE 4:25 PM (1200M)
Very hard to go past the Simon A. Miller juggernaut in the Karrakatta Plate and ended up siding with VALOUR ROAD. Hasn’t started since his decisive Magic Millions victory, but looked enormous in his lead-up barrier trial win on April 3. Expecting to see him begin well, race on speed and kept out of trouble. Stablemate LADY COSMOLOGY created a huge impression when winning the Supremacy Stakes on debut. Needs a slice of luck from the high draw though. LORDHELPMERUN has emerged as a high-quality juvenile in recent weeks and has drawn well, while big-finishing filly ASSETRO must be included.
Suggested: 1. VALOUR ROAD each way.
1. VALOUR ROAD
11. LADY COSMOLOGY
RACE 8 AMELIA PARK LAMB HANDICAP 5:00 PM (1800M)
RAGAZZO D’ORO reminded everyone of his capabilities when setting a strong tempo in front over this Track/Distance last start, and stretching the neck of the in-form and well-regarded Western Temple. That run should provide him with a strong platform for this assignment and he’s going to take some catching from up on top of the speed. WARRIOR OF JUSTICE has been costly to follow and has some knockers, however, the map suggests he’s going to be most advantaged, while both ELEGANT BLAST and MIDDLE EARTH are expected to attract support, but their high draws mean they’ll be getting a long way back.
Suggested: 2. RAGAZZO D’ORO 1 x 3 units.
2. RAGAZZO D’ORO
9. WARRIOR OF JUSTICE
6. ELEGANT BLAST
3. MIDDLE EARTH
RACE 9 ASCEND SALES TROPHIES HANDICAP 5:30 PM (1200M)
Was very keen on smart filly NECKLET first up and she didn’t let her supporters down, holding off subsequent Raconteur Stakes winning stablemate Mizlecki to score. Was ridden quite aggressively early-and-middle on that occasion, so was a little soft late, but the strong hit out should set her up nicely against the older horses second up. With luck, should win again. Nothing went right for GET THE VIBE last start, but she’s expected to bounce back with regular senior rider Jason Brown back on board. Get back/run on types KLONDIKE KENNY and ON THE TURPS are both expected to charge late.
Suggested: 10. NECKLET 1 x 3 units.
7. GET THE VIBE
8. KLONDIKE KENNY
3. ON THE TURPS
